Super cheap closet setup

What’s up? So back around November 20th I decided to pop a seed I found in a bag. Well, that’s where it started. So I started with a container with some dirt from outside, a desk lamp and a 5000k led household bulb. Surprisingly it grew good but it was a male so I killed it (pics). On December 18and 19th I had two seeds I germinated pop from the soil, within that month I built a closet grow room for literally $15, stuff from the house some freebies from my friend and my time. It is super ghetto but this is basically a test run before I spend money and make my 4.5x4.5 “bloom room”. Last pic is of my week old baby’s. Any questions, suggestions, ideas are encouraged.

Your going to need a light proof box to flower.

I would suggest thinking about building a custom box out of MDF to fit that entire space underneath the clothes hanger rod. Keep the floor of the box ~4" above the floor for passive intakes underneath. Then put a small hps and panasonic whisperline 50 or 80cfm bath fan either built into the roof of the box (best) or inside the box exhausting up out into a charcoal filter.

The closet is in a spare room I use as storage/work area and I blacked out the window already so no one sees the bright light and too keep light out when I have to flower them if my other room isn’t ready by then. That is great input though thank you! I do plan on building a 4.5x4.5 bloom room and actually putting some money in to it.

I don’t think he was talking about that or the stink for that matter. You want to ensure 12 hours of total uninterrupted darkness to flower. At the same time the plant still needs to exchange gasses to live and get rid of heat etc. Looks like weed though!

I know about the light cycles that’s why I blacked out the room so I can keep it dark for flower. There is a fan hanging in the closet

Give yourself at least a month on the flowering, if you are unable to get it under a lamp that puts out more than 100w (single lamp) keep it vegging until you can
If you're looking for some cheap full spectrum nutes NPK Industries has some all in one grow and bloom formula on amazon. 2oz makes about 15 gallons for 10$, if you find a way to catch the runoff when you water it can last easily 30 gallons which should do you good for a single plant
If you can manage it, at very minimum a ph meter for about 12$ on amazon will help you keep from "nutrient deficiencies"
And ensure some good growth!
With those lights you have, don't be afraid to get it close enough for them to kiss, I have that exact blurple light and it's only good until the plant is larger than the light itself!

Slowly grow your environment! It will be a thing to love. One thing at a time, and it will evolve and as well your appreciation!

How much room square ft size do you have available? If you're looking for which direction to move cost wise, I've been in your boat and I'd love to help.

Ya I have a bit of ferts that my buddy gave me to get me started. I will definitely keep it in veg till I get better lights for flower. Thanks for all the advice.

That is a good idea
You can destroy a plant in veg, but as long as the last two weeks of veg it is growing vigorously(Meaning you corrected the issues)
It will produce a minimum of an oz and a half every time. (Theoretically from the example of a plant grown 12/12 from seed requiring a minimum of 2-3 weeks of veg regardless of light cycle)

They seem to be growing pretty well. I have another post called Growth rate? Where I’ve posted there growth so far. They are not even ten days old yet and look promising.

March of 2017 i popped my first seeds starting in a smaller closet area than you, basically a cabinet. Thinking ill never need/want more than this space!!!

Using cfls and a cheap blurple

Que december 2018 I'm in my third grow area now, running four quantum boards in a 2x7 section of said room and gettin ready to add a 2x3 section as well.

Be careful with growing pot, it's kind of like Pringles or tattoos. Once youve done one, you're going to want more. Lol

Popeye that is exactly what is happening to me. I started just thinking, hey I wonder if I can get this seed to grow. Now I’m planning a 4.5x4.5 bloom room. And I’m sure after I get a few grows under my belt I’ll probably turn the whole spare room in to a grow room, 10x10.

One is 8 days old and the other is 9 days old. I just transplanted last night too so they didn’t grow as well as they have the past couple days before that. What do you all think?

They look really good. Must be some good cuts. Almost have a hard time believing you're a new grower... if it weren't for the sideways sterlite growbox. Probably gonna have typical indica slow veg which is great for a beginner or anyone with small space. Look like theyll stay squat so you could even flower with 4-6 23w cfls or maybe LEDs(no experience). Always good to smart small.

Thanks for the compliment xip I started these as mystery seeds so the genetics are totally unknown to me. I do have about 6 years experience growing plants underwater so I’m definitely not new to growing in general, just to this type of growing.

Two weeks in they’re looking good!

Hey guys, so decided I’d do a little update on the super cheap closet. So far it’s only been $15, I had to get 3 more bags of potting soil, so $15, we’re up to $30 now. Got some garden tie and new razor blades $6. And I got a cheap UFO led off amazon for $60. So this so far has cost me $96 and stuff I already had around the house.
