Sugar in hydro?

i beg to differ... i have used sugars, both commercially supplied"horticultural" and table sugar. shit helps, seems like the plants have more energetic growth. but i only used them a couple weeks into flowering...its chemistry mayne, sugars expedite the metabolization of the other compounds in the solution.

So you put sugar in a DWC system? and why would you add it int he 2nd week and not towards the end. I used big bud to get them going early on... its the last 4 weeks im talking about. And really... you put sugar in a DWC or are you talking about soil?

Mould, bacteria and fungus love sugar. Vascular plants don't.
Find me any botanical evidence at all that vascular plants can use sugar as a nutrient. You can't, outside of ads from people who sell the stuff. Look for peer reviewed botanical research from a university horticultural extension. Good luck searching!
The best info on sugar in horticulture I found in a long time looking was a thing from a university in Texas that molasses might help feed beneficial microbes in organic soil grows. All sugar does in hydro systems is feed problem pathogens.

i use a fogger so i dont really have too many prollems wid pathogens... and u aint listening im not saying that its used as a nutrient. more of a catalyst of sorts, sugar alone wont help shit. it helps in conjunction with a balanced nutrition, just like everything else that EATS... i never was able to take a square's word for it before i tried it for myself. and be careful with university studies MIT "proved" that a curve ball is an optical illusion, and nolan ryan proved them wrong... so fuck a university study just do wat works for you

hell yea, homemade hybrid system...DWC, Ultrasonics, there is a drip option as well... buta simpler way to think about it, if you used sugar as a main saty of your diet...you wouldnt last too long either right...diabetes ring a bell? but the proper amounts of sugar in your diet are beneficial. same wid plants, use too much and they fuck up...too little makes a negligible difference. not too hard to figure out...why yall think this shit dont work? what the hell you think is in all those carb loading products...? natural simple sugars maybe...?

fogger... where did you get it ...how much?... no i know what you mean about the college stuff.. if it works it works... but saying to put sugar in my system when its dwc will make everything slimey and kill your roots.... maybe it doesnt happen in a fogger... but it doe in a dwc system... do you use hydrogen peroxide in your fogger?

look up ultrasonic fogger... it sterilizes the sloution as it cycles and it raises my res temp a lot but i like it. and the system is primarily dwc...no peroxide necessary wid a fogger, and i got stupid aeration in my tub so its all good. foggers are fairly new, and make sure that the sugar you add to ur rez is all dissolved or else there is too much. try mixingsugar into a gallon of nutes til it wont dissolve anymore and you should have an idea of how much to throw into the mix.

Why not just boil some water and dissolve the sugar in it..... it will COMPLETELY dissolve in boiling water. Then simply wait for the water to cool.... dump it in the reservoir. I dunno..... seems like it should work.

if ya dyin to put some sugar in your op, try honey. At least it has some known, if weak anti-microbial action and will inhibit some pathogens.

What would you say about soiless mediums? I'm using Perlite (with a little Coco).... would molasses provide any benefit in soiless medium or would you say no?

All i know is that my plants were doing great... And the moment i added sugar to the rez (which there is tones of people that stand behind it) my plant roots formed a bad gooo and roots died. I didnt know that this happened in a water environment like DWC... in soil i can see that it would be no big deal. Bu in dwc it feeds bad germies and kills my roots.... Advanced nutrients tech support (awesome by the way ) based on my nutrient schedule.... which is not organic... sensi a & b bug bud and overdrive...(big bud i stopped at week 4) .... anyway they advised to put 30ml of hydrogen peroxide (store bought 3%) per each gallon of water in the rez... I did and my plants stopped dying.. so im sold on hydrogen peroxide and plan on adding it throughout my grows.... My deal is the hydrogen peroxide kills anything natural that goes in there... SOOO what do i do about giving it some extra girth and flavor like you do with Sugar!..... hehhehehe jeez that took allot to explain.

On the evidence before me, perlite being a sterile medium would not benefit from sugars. The only evidence I can find for the use of sugars is this from Michigan State University Agriculture (dang, I thought it was from UT, been a while since I searched it up), but it applies to agriculture in soil, not hydroponics, where there are ideally no microbes in nutes or media. Keep in mind that this study was partly funded by Hawaiian sugar producers.

you got good advice on H2O2, but unless you treat your nutes with H2O2 every 3-4 days, pathogens will get in and will thrive, madly if there's sugars available. The 3% H2O2 from the chemist does work of course but you have to use so much of it. If you can get 50% H2O2, you need only apply at 1ml/L.
Sugars are big long complex chains of molecules. The membrane on a root is evolved to take in simple elemental nutrients, readily available in soils. The lack of natural sugars in soils in general means plants are not evolved to use them as food. Insects and microorganisms are very good at beating plants to the sugars.
Ever inhaled any burning sugar smoke? If you have, you'd wonder why you'd want to add sugar to your cannabis, anyway.
Sweet smoke comes from good DNA and healthy plants with lots of perfumey resin.
