Sucrose Injection

I modified this post, but the title may not have changed, for some reason. I decided to keep the former information to myself. It was too good to share. Could have commercial potential. Here's some useful information though. The subject is now perlite.

I find that a layer of about 3/4" of perlite on the bottoms of pots aids drainage and a similar layer on top acts as a reflector to bounce light back up to leaves and to prevent soil from heating up due to light absorption. Soil dries out much slower. The trick with perlite is to wet it down in the bag before working with it.

sucrose injection study on different weed species, which would most likely do similar things with mary jane.

"Plants injected with sucrose had greater dry weights and shoot-to-root ratios under both light levels"

Yeah, that's what it was. I guess there wouldn't be much commercial potential for something as simple as sugar injection anyway. Here's the articles. Now you know the secret of "sugar-cropping", a name I just made up;

http://jxb.oxfordjournals.org/content/49/329/2013.full.pdf

They show that injecting sugar solution into plant stems steadily under pressure has a pronounced growth increasing effect. It can increase dry weight by up to 100% under full light or it can produce the same weight as full light using only 25% as much light input. They used shading for that experiment and it caused plants to elongate. To keep Cannabis in a normal growth pattern I suggest giving them about 90 minutes of full light at the start of the day cycle and another 90 at the end of it, then just a dim light during the rest of the day cycle. You might be able to use full darkness instead, in which case you would have 90 min. on, 9 hours off, 90 min. on, 12 hours off. No idea what kind of side effects such a light cycle might have. Experimentation is required.

I think this would be most beneficial if done during the "drowning" period before harvest... been reading about it here on RIU, seems like this could be used with that method to get super fat buds.
