stupid question?

so i have been doing alot of reading and the one thing i see the most is plants need a decent pot size and to go square if you can... i had a thought that may just be stupid but could i just fill up say a 10 or bigger gallon rubbermaide tub (drill drain holes of course) and put some plants in there? i figure that would give them a sh*t ton of root room. also if this is doable, how many plants could i get away with in 1 tub?

you are only limited by your imagination... you can most certainly do so with your idea. i will be using these huge 30 + gallon tubs i found out on the ranch which held these salt molasses blocks for cows. it was free and will be working nicely...

and i would stick to one plant per container, makes for one huge plant

Yo dont want to have more than one plant in a container.

I wouldn't do it but you could fit 2 maybe. its not just roots you have to worry about.

what if one get infested you cant rip it up now because you will mess up the other plants roots.

They will fight for light. and lots of other little reason you want one plant to one container.

Yea as said... Seems it's a general rule, one plant per a container, no matter the size... Roots... Gotta make sure there is adequate room and no intertwining.

I support the 1plant per container rule. You risk loosing alot of yield on on the small one, and some yield on the big one. When 1per container they will grow to their max size's with way less variables. Plus if the 10gal rubber made container breaks(They get brittle way faster then regular pots) your in for some depressed ass plants.

if there's a way that you could separate the big container into smaller sections so that the roots don't grow all together, i'd say you could grow two plants in there without many issues..
i'd also make sure it's the same strain that way they will take the same nutes pretty much, this way you won't have to make each section water tight and have to worry about the one taking less nutes getting the feed from the one that can handle more nutes..

also i will be growing snow white. my room is 8ft high 3 feet across and 3 feet in "depth" how many plants do you guys think i should stick to if i dont go with the 1 ina tub. 400 watt hps plus another 150 hps i may use along side the 400 watt. do you think adding the 150watt would help much? would it be worth it in the long run?

If you can add the light and avoid temp problems do it! Whether it's 1 plant or 10... I would say don't got more than 10 plants with 550 available watts. You can grow 2 huge plants and get a half pound or grow 10 decent plants and get a half pound, either way...

No way Dude. Totally illegal to use a rubbermaid for growing pot. Didn't read the label?

I have done 2 plants in a 5 gallon bucket and both did very well with no lock up me and another guy on here tried it when i first started growing and not knowing much about growing but it did work out ok though i didnt veg long at all about 3 weeks..but once harvested and i checked the roots there was still room for growth there..If you look aound here there are still some grows like this or google it and it will bring you back to RIU with the thread..

on a practical level, I wouldn;u grow more than three plants max and prolly just one in a 3x3 room. Major issues with crowding. one good plant will easilly fill a 3x3 area. you will still get plenty of yeild prolly the seme as if you were to squease three in there.
