Stupid Question about CMH

How are you supposed to turn these lights on and off? there's no on/off button on the ballast.. just a power cord? I just plug and unplug the damn thing every time? I mean I plan on using a timer.. but really?

I've noticed after they turn off, they take forever to re-strike.

Any HID light bulb requires a cool down period before it can re-strike, it's the bulb not the ballast. And they will not come with a switch as they are meant to be installed into a set location with lighting control in a more accessible location. If you want an override switch before your timer, you can always install a toggle switch that controls the plug that your are using for your ballast.

What do you mean lighting control? Have I missed something big here?

I plan on just using a wall timer, like this http://www.amazon.com/GE-15153-Heav...d=1375475659&sr=8-2&keywords=mechanical+timer

Nah, lighting control refers to anything used to control the light. A switch, a motion sensor, a timer, all considered lighting control. And using something like that just make sure that it can handle the inrush current from your ballast, some of them are made very cheap and could be a fire hazard if underrated.

Ok, thank you.
