Stunted seedling

I just germed two bag seeds, of a strain that is some of the best i have seen in a while. I found a seed and germed it immediately. A very healthy seed it germed very quickly and then i moved it into a soil, vermic, pearl combo and it took off for a couple days growing qickly. It got a little warm and i gave it a little extra water and that is when i belive i overwatered it and it started drooping. I stoped watering and loosened up the soil so air can get down farther and help dry it out. It has been a week and she(optomistic) looks a lot better but is not growing at all. (I have another seed that i started a week after this one and it dwarfs the older one.) I checked the roots as well last week and there was only one root fiber and it was girdled (pinched) i cut it with a steril razor and replanted it. I also mixrd some rooting hormone in some water and watered it with the mixture and there is some new root growth. Will she pull through and start growing agian? Or is it done for? My thoughts are that it is allocating most of its energy to establishing a root system inorder to support the soon to come leaf and branch structure. Any thoughts? Anything more that i can do to insure that this plant will pull through?

ok a couple bangers later, a little more reserch and observation lends me to the idea that i may have a little bigger problem than overwatering. instead of using my normal FF products this seed germed faster than i expected and had no soil so i used some old potting mix i used for my flower pots. (the newest seed is in FF mixture) I observed some (3)gnats in my veg chamber, but where there is one there is more. Are the gnat larve just hitting this plant and stunting it? I currently put a dish of soapy water in there to catch the adults, i read (on this site)they are attraced to the co2 and get caught in the bubbles.on my way to the store going to get bio control products for this pest. Any reccomendations? I read lady bugs but as far as i know they dont eat soil dwelling insects or larve.?? How do i get rid of the larve and eggs on the roots so i can transplant them in steril media? I dont want to have them on the roots and put them in the steril soil and just waste my time. Is this a problem that i am going to continuosly battle as the adults can fly in and lay their eggs? Any input is greatly appreciated.
