The administration of liquid cannabis extracts containing THC is associated with the mitigation of various symptoms of Alzheimer’s-related agitation and dementia, according to observational trial data published online ahead of print in The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Israeli investigators assessed the use of cannabis oil as an adjunct pharmacotherapy treatment in ten Alzheimer’s disease patients over a period of several weeks. Researchers reported that drug administration was associated with a significant reduction in patients’ symptom severity scores. Specifically, cannabis oil ingestion corresponded with decreased levels of aggression, irritability, apathy, and delusions.

Investigators concluded, “Adding medical cannabis oil to Alzheimer’s disease patients pharmacotherapy is safe and a promising treatment option.”

The administration of dronabinol (oral synthetic THC in pill form) has previously been reported to reduce Alzheimer’s-induced agitation and improve weight gain, while preclinical studies have theorized that cannabinoids may be neuroprotective against the onset of the disease.

An abstract of the study, “Safety and efficacy of medical cannabis oil for behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia: An open label, add-on, pilot study,” appears online here.

I am "living the dream" err, I mean "living the nightmare" that is dementia with my Mum.

I saw this old thread and wanted to share testimony that yes this is a real thing.

Check out the US patent on Cannabis to see cannabis as a neuroprotectant. For some reason I could not find the link as I wrote this.

(what I would consider as) Large doses of RSO is the only medicine that keeps her out of delusional episodes. We are talking about severe hallucinations lacking 100% situational awareness; and not the fun kind we get from hallucinogens.

After RSO takes affect she comes back to the edge of reality. Of course, her memory impairment does not go away like the delusional behavior which, if you were traumatized by the movie The Exorcist... Well, it can seem like that to the uninitiated. The cannabis doesn't immediately correct extensive brain damage but it does have an ameliorating affect on memory impairment in that it leads to improved memory recall of both short-term and long-term.

So, with the cannabis she is more comfortable; compliant instead of distressed and uncooperative; and somewhat more functional; and not lost in a lost world.

The City of Alzheimer's has recently (approx 2019-2020) annexed the county of Diabetes Type 3. The shit-show bandwagon of Alzheimer's is a clown show. Don't trust it.

The diagnosis of Alzheimer's is like unceremonious induction into the City of Alzheimer's. However, citizenship will not help you with your or your patient's problem.

Look for a sound diagnosis rather than hand-waving by neurologists. 99% of neurologists don't believe that food can have any short-term positive effects. The typical neurologists must be the least uninformed medical specialty that I have personally experienced when it comes to what food can do. I've seen 7 neurologists with my patient. Three of them work at Stanford, inclusive of the Stanford Health Care Center for Memory Disorders.

Watch out for Type 3 diabetes. I wish I could get some concrete information about specific A1C measurements as it relates to type 1, type 2, and type 3 diabetes. That is, on a AIC number line, where is Type 1, 2, 3?

There is some debate about what may be called Type 4, which is the type that is relevant to the eye and optical nerve and retina.

To keep you and your loved one's safe:
  • Avoid high carb/sugars diet for the rest of your life.
  • NOTE: an egg and two pieces of toast is high carb breakfast. Better to eat 4 eggs and veges and pork
  • Eating bread and coffee as first meal of day and not eating real balanced meals until lunch time... VERY BAD
  • Pasta looks like sugar to your cells.
  • Bread looks like sugar to your cells.
  • Fruit counts toward sugar consumption
  • Alcohol (as it made from sugars)
If you eat fruit and celery (primarily as an example) because you have it in your mind that the behavior is super healthy, then you better make sure your DNA schema can handle it. If not, then you may be in the dementia group a couple of decades later... JUST LIKE MY MOM. She was so proud of her good diet as she apparently was judging others who were "overweight" or ate differently. Smart people can be total idiots when it comes to their health. To share how smart she was... She worked her way in her career to become the chief pharmacist at King Kahlid Eye Hospital in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. So she was super smart and amazing until she got brain damage from insulin resistance of the brain.

Save yourselves! :-)
Run your body on fat not sugar, to be safe. There are videos going into more detail on YouTube.

I hope this helps a lot people!

Footnote [edit]: The footnote to all of this is by reducing sugar intake, you will find yourself to be more hungry. No, that's not a sugar craving, FFS. That's your cells screaming for help before they die unless they get more real nutrition. Just eat more. Keep bags of pecans and other nuts at arm's reach. Skip nearly every dessert. Your brain will be with you at 90 years or 100.

Type 3 diabetes = insulin resistance of the brain
