stretchy arjans plants? is this normal?

can any1 tell why my arjans haze plants are so damn strechy??
really not sure if are o close to my lights or wot, on the 18h of this month i turnd them 12/12 an they were 12" , now there standing 30" an thats not including the 3 litre pots.

ive moved the light up so there a good foot or so high from the plans, is his normal??

Sativa's (or sativa leaning crosses) just stretch alot more than indicas do

My Jack Flash grew to 4 times its original height after 3 weeks of 12/12, its nothing to worry about aslong as you have the headroom

cheers rasta, yeah u know wot its like when there not a lot of greenery around an all shes doin is goin north!!!! lol,luckily i got 2m, so they can go as high as they like

Too bad you didnt top them first, it prob would have helped. I know all the sativas I'm gonna grow, I'm gonna train the hell outta them. I would keep the light as far down as the plants allow.
 
Absolutely it's normal, it's a sativa dominant plant. I think you can expect another half a foot of growth and they should slow down after that and come to a stop vertically. You can supercrop them which would also help promote side branching and allow you to lower your light. When growing a sativa, in my opinion, letting them grow straight up is not the best method of growing them. Some type of scrog or lst should be used. Again that's just my opinion. I'm just finishing my last buds of arjan's haze #1, what an absolutely great smoke. I found they need high humidity, after several weeks mine started to dry up leaves constantly. Some sativas will drop almost all their leaves so don't freak if this happens.

Supercropping...softening the branch you choose, you can even supercrop the main stem. Take the branch and between two nodes of your choosing, start pressing on the sides of the plant to soften it up and once softened, bend it over at a ninety degree angle. You can either tie the branch so it won't pop back up or just let it be and in a couple of days it will stand up again and where you supercropped it, it will slowly produce a knot in the stem where you supercropped. It slows the tops down and gives the other branches a chance to catch up to the top. Your plants look like they are almost a pure sativa strain, long, thin and spacey between internodes. For future reference, you can also use bushmaster to stop vertical growth. It's made by Humboldt.

ok, is it possible to do his while he plants in flower????
 
been reading the various post you've made about your experience with the arjans haze and thought i should make a comment as you have shown interest in my grow.

now i'm no pro, but it seems to me like you have been panicking and over-analyzing most aspects of your grow. this plant is a haze, it has a long flowering time and it likes to stretch a lot, make these traits work to your advantage. train the plant in some way ( i recommend lst), keep the lights as close as possible without burning.

try to keep everything as simple as possible and more importantly REGIMENTAL, when i first started with clones (due to poor light set up) they showed sex, reveged, showed sex, reveged and then i finally flipped them to 12/12. no doubt this shocked the hell out of them, but, in all honesty they are now absolutely fine!. it just goes to show how hardy these plants are (i guess thats why they call it weed). so don't panic

i just can't help but think that you cut that last plant down too soon. you were panicking that it was gonna die on you/ turn hermie, when infact there were no clear signs it had developed male flowers. i would like to see these plants given the full flowering time they deserve as i have heard good things and would be interested in growing this in the future.

so i say let em grow and let em prosper, i actually don't think they reveg i just think it is a haze trait that all the while it is flowering it is creating new bud sites.
i'll keep checking in and hope to see big looooooong sativa plants that need tying up to support all that heavy bud.

thanks for all ur comments, yeah ghb, i did chop the mother early, an this time im just gona sit it out an hope they dont go the same as the mother.
i dont think they will, i grew her from seed an all thru veg she was outside an i wasnt totaly on the ball with he 12/12 at first until i investd in my light,

anyhow, they now stand at 50" wich is much higher than i first anticipated when i turnd them a 12", and they have bushed out more

an this im not sure wot its calld, i was told 2 pounder or somthin wen i was given her but never heard of i, anyway would love to supercrop this, but once again, back to skool lol! tried to top her dont think it workd!!!mmmmm 009.jpg
 
i think u are gonna have to support them when they start budding, they are long as fook. how much higher can you go in your grow room?.

topping seems to have worked, you wont notice until that new stuff grows out though. i think topping works better with plants from seed, they have uniform nodes whereas cuttings tend to be all over the place and unsymmetrical.

p.s i can't recommend lst enough, its simply the dogs bollocks

ive got wooden struts wich i can raise if i need to ( wich i might have 2 lol!!) but if like u say this will make it easy for me to tie up the budds, do u think i should top the 2 babie arjans now?? an is the other plan to small to supercrop, its in 12/12 now, hanks for ur help

i think the arjans are still a bit small to top, might work though. i plead with you to try the lst method explained here:


i think you could get atleast 10 oz per plant if you are patient enough at the veg stage.

i'm not 100% sure if supercropping is the best thing to do. if you don't get it right can can break the stem and thats never a good thing.
heard people say that you should bend the branch that you want to slow down so the others can catch up.
my own opinion is that the branch you bend is the one that ends up getting MORE nutrients, i tried it on a couple of low branches on my LS and they seem to be developing big buds were otherwise there would have only been popcorn.
