Stretch on seedlings or normal?

Just started my first indoor. I have a 60"x30"x48" box two chambered for veg and flower. The veg is 24" x 30". I have a 400 W MH in there growing in rockwool cubes. Hand watering right now. I started with bag seeds and I am about a week from cracked seeds to sprouts. They are about 1 inch tall and looking a little lengthy. I was wondering with a 400 watter in the small space if I need to worry about the height of the light? Its at about 36" right now. I have had a little issue with heat but I keep it between 76 and 83. That is the best I can do right now. I would hate to get the light to close and fry them.

yeah, you always have to be carefull about getting the light too close at such a young age... it a delicate balancing act. i have a 250 hps, and i always think that for the first week or so they look a little spindly, but usually i am just being paranoid, and they turn out just fine... you can try lowering that lamp to about two feet or so, 30 inches maybe a little on the high side... most people always say that hps lamps cause more stretch in seedlings than do mh's.. best of luck with your grow though.
