Stress a male to force hermaphordism

Say a person had two males and no more seeds, no more hope. I understand that there can be male hermies, but, like females can a male be stressed into becoming hermie? Or can the sex be switched at the pollen sacs?

See, if I could manage to get some pistils on these and get some seeds there is at least hope. It seems debatable, but say worst case scenario 90% of the seeds are hermie. So out of 20 seeds there is statistical probablity of 1 female, so I germinate 20 plants and toss 19 of them. This is, of course, hypothetical (had to look up how to spell statictical on google).

So, if there is a glimmer of hope, this would make me so happy :-P

Ok, tell me where I'm wrong.

These are the two last WW seeds. Can't buy anymore, have a bunch of JH BB PP and 'free' seeds and one NL female 3 weeks into flower. She's getting bred with the WW's, those males are just too damned nice looking and the branch I smoked got me pretty high, they are just too nice to dispose of. I was thinking of trying to hermie the NL after harvest and reveg and cross her back to one of her clones to get some seeds back of NL, too. But anyway, has anyone solid evidence why herming the males is impossible? Still wishing.

That is just too funny. I may be ignorant and misinformed but I re-read my posts enough times to notice the outrageously stupid things I type, lol
you cannot turn a male to female. You can use gibberellic acid to force a female to hermie and self pollinate... but you can't make a male plant produce female flowers. It's genetically impossible. google "can you turn a male plant into a female plant" and read.. there you will find your evidence.

How do you know you even like those phenos :) Did you smoke some male leafs?... Own up man was it seriously good tasting? hehe I am just kidding.. Honestly if you think your male stock rocks that hard definitely do not kill it.

ok what you can do is save the pollen. Then you can cross it with a different strain. If the other strain is a lot different it will make thing a lot easier. It will be whats called unstable. You will get some seeds that will grow like one plant and some will grow to look like the other and some will look like a mix of the 2. Then you can start crossing back to get back to the starting strain.https://www.rollitup.org/members/gom-255859.html

um to the best of my knwledge, it is possible to hermie a male
i think the result would be unviable seeds, since the male dies after pollen release thus not letting the calyx mature and drop the seed

No what I think he is trying to do is to save a strain of genetics and I can relate I have been there. It sucks and like every other thing in this "hobby" it takes time and patience.

good luck man

a male wont herm female.. only a female will herm male... jus buy some seeds.. they r like 3$
this is untrue. males certainly can grow female parts, but it will not likely be any good for making seeds. the female parts have never developed very well on the male to female herms that i've seen. here are some pics of my male transgendered to female plant. i killed it the next day. notice the pistils coming out of the pollen sacs.

you can turn a male into a female, i know this because i have done it, not a very good one mind you but it works, although it was a one off on an outdoor grow, where i live we get frosts in winter, i had a plant in a pot that i started late and started to turn male, was only 2ft high, so i immediately chopped off everything that was growing male parts down to about 1 ft, and left it for dead next to the house, where it was still protected from frost during the winter, next spring it was still alive so i chucked it into a bigger pot to see what it would do, and the damn thing grew about 5ft tall and put out buds this time, wasnt the greatest smoke and i dont know if it would of made decent seeds but i suppose something about a cold dormant cycle might make male turn to female if you dont let it mature, something to try if you have the patience but i suppose on the grand scale, its not really worth the effort,

Google is what sparked my inquiry. It is said that a male will start popping out pistils if you let it flower long enough, same way a female will grow balls when grown out for long time.

This thread: https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/183128-female-pistols-male-plant.html goes into a little detail. I would have to agree that common sense dictates herming a male won't work. But then again, common sense says I shouldn't be able to get high of the leaves of my male plants, but in practice, I'm getting pretty stoned off of what I can't get high on. Common sense is at once both uncommon and nonsensical. So I guess I'm just going to keep the males growing and see what the hell happens. If this thread dies here you will know that it was a stupid idea and didn't work.

Cheers!
