Street light bulb for a lamp?

Is it possible to use a street light bulb to give my plant some light? Or is that out of the picture? Would it work?

Sure, if you have the correct ballast it would work.

k. thanks! a few short minutes after i read your message, i pulled a mission impossible. would you happen to know where i can find a big ballast for it?

What size is the bulb? Wattage?

175 watt mercury vapor. i heard those aren't worth a damn. could i get any use out of it?

Nope that MV lamp is only going to be good to light things up to see, maybe a good shop light. Basically worthless for growing.

Don't steal light bulbs, not because it's illegal but because you're not really cutting the right cost. The ballast is the expensive piece, the lights are the affordable part lol
