So I decided a few nights back to try out something new and see how it would work on a new bean. I used a rock wool root plug and chose to place it in a shot glass on the windowsill. I moistened the seed thoroughly and made sure the bottom of the shot glass had 1/4" of standing water. Instead of tap or distilled water I used a combination of half 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and half Distilled water. I did this just to test boundaries of oxygen absorption by roots and how much the plant could tolerate. I was shocked the next day, less than 24 hours after putting it in the window and with only 12 hours of light total up to that point it had grown 1 1/2" tall and had both full seed leaves and new true leaves. I show my breeding buddy and he notices when he comes over only 8 hours later that the leaves had doubled in size. It is now 72 hours old and the growth has slowed to a normal rate after the first 48 hours. The second day it had doubled the leaf size again and was shooting up a new stem and set of leaves. I'm curious as to what could have caused the sudden growth the first 2 days yet while repeated in same dilution and quantity has yet to occur again. Is it possible for the plant to build a tolerance to the excess absorption of oxygen or is it that it can only grow so much. I have noticed around 12 taproots poking from the cube and intend on transplanting it to further test my peroxide formula. I will post pics as soon as I can, any advice is appreciated.
