Strange FIM technique.... anyone heard about this??

yeah.... had a lot of people saying I was crazy last night.... I'm just as skeptical ya know??? BUT.... if it works...lol... I want in!!!!!!

I believe its forms s knuckle, and the tops can boost after its repaired, but growing new shoots just sound unbelievable.

well after seeing the picture... let me see if I can somehow make this make sense 420forme..... I saw the 2 new tops that you would get with a normal topping... and then the original top, once recovered, shot up again and had offshoots with bud sights... rather then being just a normal top with one cola.... does that make sense??? lol!! so ultimately he had 5 budsights at the canopy from just that one central stem....

Bend the top over and use a pipe cleaner to connect it to the main stem. As it grows sideways keep adjusting the pipe cleaner. Soon you have tons of bud sites.

KISS

So the top the was cut with regular topping, and formed two Colas as expected, correct? Then later he bent the main stem, (below the topping site) and stabbed it. This caused the original cut top (which Is now a stump) to regrow and branch off like it was never topped?

ok so what now? bend it and stick a toothpick in? can ya post pics on what this does AFTER? i mean if it makes 2 extra colas, whats the benefit over just cutting the top?

no... it was never topped.... I just meant that the two branches that would have become dominant IF topped.... did just that... and then the injured top recovered... making 3 tops... but had 2 new shoots which also rose to the canopy providing bud sights....I hope Im making sense...lol

He ended up with 5 tops after all was said and done.... not just the 2

the original main top.... after recovering, became a top and then sent out 2 shoots with top bud sights... so from that one stem he had five budsights at the canopy

So all i'm seeing is supercropping, I bet if you did it without the toothpick, you would have the same results, though it would recover faster w/o a foreign object in it, so mabye the longer recovery time allows a bit more growth from the sides before it starts growing again. Then its could also grow new shoots from the primary growth because it was never topped.

absolutely possible 420forme... I used the word FIM because I didnt really know what else to call it... it's almost like the damaged top came back and created 2 new lower nodes in addition to the two original lower nodes... all of which ended up dominant at the canopy... possibly due to timing with the recovery of the "injury"..... I dunno....lol!!! I need to see the plant in person to have a better grasp as to what really happened I guess... but he def has 5 tops fully developed.... that much I could see clearly

Its not that it came back and magically grew two more shoots, it just recovered and continued to grow as it normally would. Just the side branches grew during the recovery time. Not trying to knock it, just pointing out that its not making new branches, which is probally why everyone is interested.

fair enough.... but these branches werent there before.... at the time the toothpick was introduced... it was just a top...next thing down was the last set of nodes... know what I mean??? I'm not very good at describing this I dont think....lol! Its almost like it became a secondary branch... but it's positioning at the top of the canopy makes it a cola.... no??? I dunno.... lol! I'm second guessing my second guesses now! I'm gonna try it regardless... maybe once I can provide pics things might become more clear.... to me as well!!!! lol
