was talking to a friend today and we were discussing our grows... He told me about something I've never heard of before...
He said that he takes his main top and bends it over and then jams a toothpick down into the stem, through the bend...and he swears a bunch of tops will form almost as if the plant was FIM'd???
I've done quite a bit of reading on this subject and have never heard anything like this..... anybody??? lol....please don't try this until we get some feedback on it!!! It kinda seems like it might work.... but no way I'm trying it until I hear from a few people on this subject!!!
anyway.... just curious:-?

No idea I have done countless hours of research and have never heard of this. have him try it out and post pics... start a thread on the subject when you do I bet it will be a hit

I just spent about an hour trying different keywords to find something... ANYthing about it.... but nothing~ I'm definitely intrigued!!

Ive heard all kinds of purported methods like this, from sticking a rusty nail thru the meristems, to pissing on the roots... I just top "normly" and let it thrive as it would otherwise, with no bells and whistles... Ive tried light stem damage to try to re-route hormones in different parts of plants before, but never got any OMG results from doing so...

I've heard about the nail thing.... but that was at the base of the plant if I remember correctly.... this, so he claimed was a way to get multiple tops.... and the more I sit here and think about it the more I can kind of see it working in my mind... I'm flowering now or I'd be very tempted to give it a shot...

What does he think it is a chipolata? All that will happen is the plant will have to divert energy into the repairing the damage of being stabbed. There is no magical methods bro, just keep it simple.

I totally agree grandpa.... thats why I'm here asking... even if it was an urban legend there would be something about it ya know??? maybe this guy just stumbled on something... I really dont know... but this is a good friend and I know he wouldn't steer me wrong like that... intentionally anyway...lol!

once again, I agree with you buds... keep it simple... but people FIM all of the time with outstanding results... and ultimately that method damages the top as well... but good things happen...lol!

Of course, but this is something that is one of those "afterthought" kindof things to do as an experiment of sorts, and not necessarily the most essential part of growing, but yes, the exploration of "what will happen if I do this or that with my pot plants" is an undying and never-ending one... However, fact remains, it IS one of the "wivestale" kinda hypothesis though.... Interesting, no doubt.... The thing a newbie should be focusing on, not at all... Thatz all I'm sayin'...
we need to know!

I hear ya grandpa.... but I'm not ready to write it off just yet.... can't try it this grow but I'll definitely experiment next time...ya never know...lol~

FIMing only damages the tops during veg... It results in multiple, fully-formed, near-identically sized top colas, which r in no way damaged by the time they flower... The only reason we do it is to maximize our canopy and grow spaces, and our yields... This is a very proven thing, unlike these grand imaginings of shoving shit into the stems... Can't compare the two...

And Im 31 smartass... God gave u two ears and one mouth so ya can listen twice as much as u run yer trap... If u read twice and do as much as u post, and dropped the callin' everyone grandpa thing, yer teenage point of view would be so much better received, if it were put on here like most everyone else does, in a respectful manner... But. young blow hards seldom become adept at much besides gettin shown up by us grampa's...

absolutely not a newbie thing Ganja.... I completely agree... get the basics down.... but surely you can respect my curiosity...lol~ I mean....it's not completely ridiculous....and like I said.... this is a good friend of mine... no reason he would try to steer me wrong...

Ganja.... I was referring to the earlier post from "Grandpa".... I was not and am not a wiseass....lol!!!! honest mistake.... no worries

I gotcha... Itz all good man... Just trying to steer less experienced minds in the right direction in their quest to master the art of growing cannabis is all... I'll spark up a bowl in yer name here in a few...lol... My bad... ;-)

I think if you go back and read the thread.... you'll see I was just replying, respectfully to a gentleman who's id is Grandpa1949
