Strain Recommendations

Back in the day (40 plus years ago) we had bud mostly from the green triangle (Nor Cal mendocino county, etc) that had red/orange pistils on it that could give you the munchies just by opening the bag and smelling it. I am looking for something similar in smell/taste. I have some Chemdawg 4 I am finishing up now and by the smell it is not what I was looking for. I looked up the effects more than the smell when I purchased them. I guess I'll figure out what to do with the clones I have later. Any help would be appreciated. PS I am new to growing so a hearty strain would be best until I get better at this.

Crickets, lol. I guess it is subjective and hard to replicate a memory. I read about different strains and they seem to be going the way of "premium" wines with their descriptors, "A fruity nutty blend with hints of vanilla and sunshine" lol.

Check out this site ttps://en.seedfinder.eu /, you can search by flavors and by effects to try to narrow down what you're looking for. There are so many strains old and new that its tough to know what you had so long ago.

Thanks, I have been looking at a number of strains from Dark Heart Nursery because they do clone drops nearby once a week. Dream Queen, Cookies, Midnight Splendor, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and Strawberry Cheesecake seem to be contenders. I know people spend years getting exactly what they want through cross breeding strains to get the desired result. I am definitely not up to that level, nor do I intend to be. I have a small personal grow room and it is just something new to challenge my gardening abilities, although the reward is more satisfying.

You don't need to spend years breeding, lots of others have done that for you. You may have to grow out a few different things to find your favorite. Then you'll keep finding new things you want to try for various reasons. If you can get clones that will eliminate pheno hunting to find something special, but sometimes thats fun too.

There is a nursery that drops up to 8 different strains of clones at a time at a retail store relatively close by. I don't know any other local growers, so that is my only option. They are taxed the same as buds so they aren't cheap, but I can handle that. I'll keep trying different types until I find the right one. I had 100% success in my first attempt at cloning, so I think I can replicate that again.
