I don't know about forever but well cured buds kept in mason jars and kept cool and dark will keep for ten years easy.

storing buds in the freezer causes the trichomes to break of like icicles(and you dont want that).
mason jars is the best way to store buds.

From what I know, freezing is too cold and can degrade thc. The best temps are just cool, 60s or 50s, and dark.
