I can't seem to keep my room under 88+ with a 250w HPS and several 3000k CFL with two fans on. The lights are all over 6-8 inches from the plants and i can hold my hand over the tops of them and feel little heat. Is this ok and what should be my max temps? at night it gets down to 67-68.

between 60 degrees and 80 degrees is ideal. so no lower than 60 at night and no higher than 80 with the lights on. maybe the HPS is too close cause thats where the heat is coming from.

My temps usually stay in the upper 80's and my plants are just fine and are actually on the last two weeks of flower doing swell.

I am around 84-86, and doing fine... In the 90's you gonna have BIG problems, can you open the door and allow some ventilation, or you can be like me, i will be purchasing a floor a/c unit to control my temps completely, when i get my hps light for flower. What do you have for ventilation???

Some plants can take a little more heat then others. I would let your plants tell you if they can handle it. As long as your plants dont seem to mind the high temps you will be alright. As stated above 60 - 80 degrees is what is accepted as optimal temp range. Are you venting the heat out of the room? What cfm fan? Also plenty of air circulation inside the cab will help combat warm temps. Try running your lights at night if you are not already. A/C is also another possible option.
These are my thoughts on this subject with the info and the little experience I have.
Good Luck

Tomorrow I will find out what my constant temp is going to be with 2 fans running. I will keep the windows open in the room that the grow space is in to keep it as cool as possible. It just happens that it's in a bedroom so I don't wana run the lights at night. Will update tomorrow when I see the temps after a couple hours.

So the issue is there's too many lights in that one space. you'll need great ventilation with cold air to cool a space with that many lamps. the fluoros probably account for the most heat per wattage.

air cooled hoods are the answer. it'll take some creative thinking for the cfls but it's the best way to go.

Man you're WAY overkill on your lights for that many plants. That MH should take care of everything IMHO.

Hi, Air temperature about 90 is fine. You shouldn't be worry. Do you give them extra CO2? The higher temp the more CO2 and water needed. Soil temp is also important - there shouldn't be more temp difference between soil and air than 20%. I have read it is ideal when soil temp is less than air for about 5-10% - it makes your plant more potent. I would keep all available lights you have to your garden (250mh around 20000lumen for 8 plants in your garden might not be enough).

im thinking the hps might be a bit to close if ur flowering the hps should be enough for 4 plants yeah i agree some plants can take higher temps and with co2 can go an extra 5 degress farenheit i would higher the hps a few inches see if that make a difference at all.

how far should the hps be from the plants?
What i do is put my thermometer at the top of the plant then move the hps up until i get the right temp i go for 82 f as my plants love the temp in the low eighties. Remember that ur plants can grow up 2 an inch a day. Whats the average temp in ur house if u can lower this can .help. Turn off some heaters and open up some windows to cool ur house down.

I got the room that i have my grow box in down to 65 and the grow area seems to be holding at 82.5. When do the plants really start to smell? Mine have started developing colas about an inch and a half high but just smell like grass.
