Hi, my plant just broke few minutes ago. I've propped it up with two wooden sticks. Is the stem rotting? Here is a pic

Will the plant survive?

you have been eaten away. get urself a big fat straw, slit it down the middle , place around the stem. 2/3 inches is all u need, and plant gently in soil....
it rescued mine once, no guarantee, but worth a shot

Eaten away by what? There were no bugs or mites or anything on the plant. Is it too much moisture?

Once initiated, damping off is fatal! Sometimes called Pythium wilt, is often found in soil and growing mediums. Will also rot older plants at soil line. At onset, the stem loses girth at soil line weakens, grows dark, fluid circulation ceases, plant dies.

fungi already present in an unsterile rooting medium

So, not only is the plant lost, but I have to sterilize the entire hydro system? Or is it better to trash it and get a new one?
