Well its that time of year again, I grabbed a couple of clones from the state legal store, 30 dollars each, i got TrainWreck and Sunset Sherbert, it was such a tough choice,, they had Bruce Banner and GG4 and Gelato, i mean dang, but i have always wanted to grow trainwreck, and i like the sherberts and cookies types, so one of each,, my wardrobe is 2x3 and 6 foot tall,
I grow in a SIP called a Growbox, its like an Earthbox, its like hydro and soil combined , the best of both, so freakin easy too
I have a cob led panel i put together, 4 citi 4000k cobs and 2 cree 3000 k cobs, dimmers and silent passive heat sinks,
a big 6 inch fan with a variac speed controller
pics, lets get this thing goingIMG_7596.JPGIMG_7597.JPGIMG_7598.JPGIMG_7599.JPG

I love the sips design. I want to try them. am in BAS living soil mix and doing water only mostly w some compost ewc tea and kelp horticulture coconut powder etc. was thinking of a similar design but using restaurant bus trays and then cutting the lids in half so I can fit them around the plants. just a daydream for now. wanna see how yours goes to refine my idea.

what are those little rows in the pics u are showing?

also do u just pour water in that little lip the front?

is there an easy way to tell when its empty?

do u need to use airstones in the base?

the rows are called Trenches, even though i mixed lots of nutes into the dirt, I also put in the trenches, and added nutes there, the plants will send roots into the trenches and feed from them as well

yes water is added thru the lip you see on the front, the res holds 4 gallons of water, and you can see the water level so you know when to add water,, you can also see the water roots the plants send out ,, its cool to see the water roots thru the hole , you never want to run a sip empty, as it disrupts the wicking cycle,, so when i see thru the hole that the res is about half full i top it back off , it can go several days without me adding anything, its nice if i want to go away for the weekend

some guys ad airstones, and the roots will wrap around those stones,, i bought an air pump but didnt like the noise,, my box is dead queit, nobody can tell i am growing plants you can stand right next to it and hear nothing

there is a link to see the growbox , should have everything you need dimension wise as well
thanks I checked it out. it says it can hold 4 gal of water but I can't find anything about volume of soil.

are you doing something similar for veg? or do you veg normal and then transplant into these for flower?

they look really cool but would be a little expensive I would need 6 of those.

these are the bus tubs I was thinking about. I was thinking i could use a lid and trim it down so it sits about 3" off the bottom. drill holes in it and add a pvc pipe fitting so I can add water. then possibly have another lid that is chopped in half that sits over the top the way u are doing w the plastic. I would need to use a float or something so I could monitor the water level tho.

I bought one of these but I never got to use it in my 4x4... Grew peppers and tomatoes in it though and it did great!!! 30 something dollars from Lowe's... The picture is just how they looked at harvest time... Gonna get one for me to use this time!!!View attachment 4785621
I use one of those ; sunshine mix #4 and some dry amendments trenches like the OP. It comes with a fabric cover which I prefer to wrapping the plastic so the soil can still breath up top and u don’t risk mold or rot

I thought the plastic cover allowed the rising moisture to hit the plastic and to turn to droplets of water to then go down through the trenches of fertilier
