if you are just beginning i would stick with soil, and make sure that your room is set and ready to go before you introduce any plants!

check your air flow, temps, and make sure all your electronic equipment that are plugged into timers are set properly (should read run all your shit through its cycles before you even introduce a plant to make sure you have all these conditions in check).

a few good things to have on hand would be an R/O unit (check with your local hydro store, if you need a good one i like the folks at the potted plant in fort lupton as they have the best prices and a knowledgable staff ( a huge shout out to tyler over there at the potted plant!) with a huge selection of nutes and grow tents and other equipment on hand!)

a tds, ph, and an EC tester to help make sure you are feeding good pure water.

oh and remember even though it is legal to grow your own in the state of Colorado it is still illegal on the federal level (so keep your nose clean and your garden a secret!!!!!!) friends or angry women tend to make life hard when you have a grow op in your bedroom/basement lol.

do you have any basic knowledge of growing anything? if not i would spend some time at the library or internet!

there is tons here on rollitup, but sometimes you cant just sit on the internet all day and read so the library would be a good place to start researching indoor gardening, the basic growing technics are the same the plant world over (i know some plants require special things to be in the ideal conditions.), but the basics are the same

dont over water or under water (both are bad)
dont let the temps get to hot or to cold.
dont over/under feed nutrients when watering (this can cause tons of issues on both sides of the scale)
relative humidity is another issue to keep an eye on as when you get into harvest to much humidity can cause you mold problems and create an environment for pests and diseases to thrive!

dont jump into this on a whim you will hate yourself later for doing so!

buy the right equipment and if you cant now then wait nothing like wasting money and time on something that doesnt work or isnt going to give you the best results!

Start out by giving us a description of the room your building and what you already have in mind with regards to lights, ventilation, nutrients, water source, buckets, type of dirt, ac unit, pressurized spray bottles, extra pots , power capabilities of the outlets in the room, smell disguise. Post your specs so you can get input then after you have made a few friends you can talk about trading via private messages or something with someone whom trusts you.
