Starting basil seeds for DWC.

Hi everyone!

Forgive the simple question, but I was wondering how I should start my basil seeds before moving them into a deep water culture system?

I've noticed that when you buy basil there's always more than one stalk, so I was thinking I should spirnkle a few seeds on rockwool? I just don't know how many seeds would be too much. I can imagine spirnkling a dozen seeds only to have too many stalks for the rockwool to handle.

Two or three seeds per rockwool maybe?

Thank you all for your time.

when i do basil i do soil
but what i typically do is a giant pot and throw alot of seeds in there and it grows into this almost huge basil bush

im also italian and basil is something i eat on a daily basis but its such an easy hearty herb to grow you really cant go wrong with it

Thanks sunni for the help.

I was thinking about soil, but I just want to have a bit of fun with DWC and I'll be growing cilantro using soil in my old PC box.

I'm also tired of paying a shit load of money for a few stems of basil from my local supermarket.
you know you can stick those stems in a glass of water in your kitchen window sil or a window thats sunny but not freezing and the basil will regrow itself

i dont prune or take out the extra stems when my basil grows i just let it go

I'll definitely try that the next time I happen to buy some. I've been also thinking of buying and then simply washing off the dirt and putting them into the hydroton.

I was planning on keeping it simply with the basil, although I may try a few things once I get the hang of it.
