staggered harvests?

I was looking at my plants. And wanna get thrm at different days abd see if the bud is better when more amber or all clear or a kix. So I'm doing a 3 stage harvest. So I chopped the top 1/3rd of the plant off of 3 chunky cheeses. Is this gonna make the rest hermie, and I should just chop the rest down tomorrow morning? I didn't think it through before I did it -_-

You aren't looking at them being around too much longer. I doubt long enough to herm and do any damage. But just an opinion, not based on experience....

They will be fine. Many growers do this to allow the under growth to develop more before harvest to increase yield

No
I always suggest to do that your first time and see how the flavors and high alter..especially if you took clones
For example I have a sour chem cut or clone whatever you wanna call it...bout 14 weeks she smells like a sour berry with a euphoric yet racy high..but as she matures turns to a sour garlic with hints of berry on the back something like 16 weeks..I chopped most of the plant with very few amber trichs,(when most would consider mature) in the garlic stage and was very disappointed in the herb, specifically the high..it would never be considered "stoney" but it was no longer talkative laughing at nothing euphoric and the speediness was missing..It had turned into a lame but good tasting hybrid that most are used to smoking.....the sour berry from the earlier bud was a much lighter feminine aroma that was more preferred as well

It should be pretty much impossible to herm your plants with anything other than light leaks and letting them touch/burn on cfls....if they hermed from mere cutting away, not so different than topping in flower..you could consider them unworthy of another run in your garden..unless they are tga gear lol....but seriously a nanner late in flower will happen sometimes..that will kill a perp grow though...I have literally never been able to stress my sativas enough to herm (I only grow landrace sativas)

That's what I'm currently doing. Gave her a hair cut the other day and letting the rest mature a little more. I figure not all tomatoes are ripe at the same time so not all buds.

The only problem I have with double harvesting or whatever you wanna call it.....
Is if your running heavy sativas like I do, when you hack some of the plant away......to maintain homeostasis and maintain levels of transpiration etc the sativa will elongate leaves on the bud, sugar leaves..and they will extend and new growth will have these long leaves..you could liken it to the growth of a reveged plant even though its still flowering..the leaf ratio gets thrown, and definitely complicates trimming....its partly because they can have a month long harvest window slowly ambering...but mostly because they don't have the "stretch" at the beginning of flower...it continues to grow and stretch at night(search for light) until it begins to senesce

Good to know. Sag recommended 55 day flowering time. I'm on day 47. But they're rock hard buds, fan leaves we going, and all the trichs were cloudy, I found VERY little clear ones. For which the high my patient (gf) goes for that's what she wants. But I wanted to try all aspects and see which she liked best (I dont smoke, just love growing). So I know how to take the strain once I grow again, which I will be doing, it was a phenomenal strain. I just have some other to knock out first. Under a scrog she would be a monster. Ao I chopped off the stem at like 8-10in down on each of the plants. Here's one

I was thinking of doing this, first grow. But what about the dark stage? Where you leave the plant alive in the dark for 3-10 days which reportedly can increase potency significantly.

^never down it, or put much stock in it. Have you ever watched it? I tried it on the onset of flower. It was supposed to be 3 days. Well, I didn't know my light was off so the timer didnt do jack when it came on. I came in at day 4-5. The plamts were slumpy as hell, and etc. Took weeks to get the leaf vigor back. I wouldn't recommend. Maybe like a day or 2, if you really just gotta do it. But I never have after that incident. So my .02

No I've never done it or seen it, first indoor, I'm about week 6 flower and don't have any amber trichs. I may try itwith one of the 2 plants I got. 2 different strains and I can tell one for sure is going to take longer to finish since all the hairs are white on one and about 60% have gone orange on the other. I might go out and get a microscope or jewelers lens since I'm having trouble telling the difference between clear and cloudy with a magnifying glass. I read an article that putting your plants in a prolonged dark period can increase resin but I can't findany backing to this claim, so it only appears to exist in theory. Just another one of those things I might have to give a try.

^That may be true, but I wouldn't leave them in the dark for ten days.

Three days max. Sometimes I have to leave ripened plants in the dark anyways while they await trimming to open up space in the bloom tent.

It'll be humid as fuck when you pop that twnt, in comparison to your normal level, once you pop it open. Even if you've got good ventilation
