Spotting balls

how many weeks should i be at by the time i should be looking for balls and what are the earliest signs i can detect between the male and females?
 
females show pistils (hairs) males of course show balls but it depends on the plant sativa's have a longer growing period.

any quick pics or links comparing them? i think im coming close to getting them but, im really trying not to make my first crop some seedy dirt bud. (because its obvious im new to this)

it helped me :P
I was googling around this morning looking for clearer pictures and i kept finding the same exact image on every site i looked at. its like they all stole the image from eachother. and they werent clear enough. now i feel that i will figure it out using this photo. lol.

Usually around 2 weeks they will start showing there sex, but as mentioned before it depends on the strain. also males :spew:usually start showing first.
