Space Images: A Spectacular New Martian Impact Crater - NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Located at Latitude 3.7° N and Longitude 53.4° E, by the HiRISE camera aboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the thirty meters wide crater, which appeared between July 2010 and May 2012, has an ejecta field thirty kilometers across!

Let us all give a word of thanks to our protective blanket of atmosphere, without which we'd be constantly pelted with stuff like this just like Mars is.

Instead, after all but the biggest of these burn up upon encountering our atmosphere, what's left finally lands here... as dust.

Not sure why it keeps protecting us when all we do is attempt to destroy and put holes in it.:cry::blsmoke:
