Specific Starting Soil Mix Plan, Will This Work

Planning on using a pro-mix blend for germination/ veg + compost combo, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Along the vegging phase after 2-3 weeks I will add compost (near root zones) and on top of soil. -not sure if adding close to root zone will cause nute burn.

My main question is, will I have to use anything specific as far as nutrients for my organic compost? Besides using NPK rich materials such as bannana peels, coffee grinds, greens, sawdust pellets + other random food stuff.

I assume that compost contains a good amount of micro-nutrients as well...

Should I be technically clear from veg to flower if I do everything correctly? I want to be able to compost myself, I'm trying to stay green, this includes being able to compensate when I have deficiencies.

I appreciate the tips.

you might end up creating hotspots of nutrients by not pre mixing it all together, your best bet is to buy a premixed soil/soilless mix.

Cool Idea, but not what you want indoors. Outside all that stuff would make GREAT SUPER SOIL! You must let it all break down though. If it is not completely broken down you run the risk of attracting disease and pests. That is the reason you would only do this outside. BTW Pro Mix rocks for all stages of growth. I recently finished a veganic grow. I am TOTALLY hooked. Super Super great results. As far as adding nutes to your compost i would say no. You really need to mix the fully composted material in with your soil. You are looking to create a super active and thriving root system. Where micro organisms work with roots in a symbiotic relationship. I dont have enough exp in composting to give you specific items for creating corresponding micro/macro nutes. Have Fun! Hope this helps.

I thought pro mix was soiless, meaning you have to add nutes to it/ composting material. Guess I miss-read, thanks for the help!

Correct. Pro mix is soiless. There is no NPK value in the mix. Thus you must feed them from the beginning (5th day or so). I was just talking about the compost INDOORS. You could bring in all kinds of nastys. A good rule of thumb for growing. If it comes from outside keep it there. That means open bags of soil, tools, ETC. Hope this helps ya!
