Some Help..

Hello, I'm fairly new to this, but I thought I might try and give it a go.. I have a closet I can use that is pretty much empty as it is. The strain I was thinking of trying was Lowryder II. I know a lot of people seem to not care for it, but this would be my first, and it seems like the easiest. Could probably get bagseed as well to play with. Since it's a fairly smallspace I was thinking of getting a 250w HPS light, but I saw other places that CFL's may be better due to heat. Not sure how I could ventillate the closet. Would probably only grow 3-4 plants to start off with, not really interested in really high yields to start with. Also, is it crucial to line the walls with some sort of reflective material? So, really what I was thinking was just laying some plastic on the floor for water leakage, setup the light, (I know some people use different lights for seeding vs flowering, but is this necessary?) get good soil and some pots, plant, water (only when top is dry), and give fertalizer after 3-4 weeks.. Does this seem about right, or am I missing something? It's very likely I am since I'm just going off of guides I've read at this point

Nutes
any 20-20-20 for veg
B-1 Thrive for freshly planted seedlings with a tap root

Soil
I use mg and had no problums

lights
CFL works awsome if you have a small space and can't do alot of venting or you don't have alot of money to start with

reflector - no no, use walls that are painted white, but use a reflector hood for your lights to help redirect your lights that's getting waisted to go to your plants

flowering - there are a hand full of strains (I think Lowrider II) is one of them and thoes kinds don't need a 12/12 time unlike the non auto flowering strains

lowryder 2 would be a good plant to go with run the 250 hps 20/4 from the begining kill all males except 1 strong 1 but keep it seperate look up collecting pollen and store it in a vial in the fridge apply to 1 or 2 buds with a paintbrush and never buy seeds again happy growin

yes I've read people doing that but doesn't it make the bud weaker in the end?

thats why you only pollinate 1 or 2 the rest will stay sensimelia and still be beautiful you can bag a branch with the pollen in till it sets to stop fans pollinating the rest of your crop ive seen 4 different strains on 1 female from diferent pollen seed production the bag can stay on 7-10 days and then it can come off and its back to normal

The walls are white, but I'm not sure if they're the right kind of white, kind of dimmed due to age... Would this still be ok?

whit paint is cheap just buy a tin you can do it as is but for what its worth id definiately paint it or get some mylar

as long as their white it should be good , try cleaning the walls , it might help make them a bit more whiter

Yea, I think I'll just try cleaning them.. They're less dim than the walls outside the closet, but this is mostly due to cigarette smoking (Which I need to work on quitting.. but I always say that.. :( ) I'm guessing.

Just one more Q.. You think that a 250W HPS is good enough for 3 or 4 plants? Also, considering my space is a regular closet I'm kind of thinking heat might not be that much of an issue, maybe I could stick a fan in there or something. Still trying to decide between CFL's and a 250W HPS. Though a 400w Hps is not much more costly, I think it would be way too much heat to handle, plus it would drive the electric bill up.

well if your just starting I'd go with CFL for a while

Another person said that I'd be better off getting the 250w HPS so I dunno I might just get it.

I was paying less then $10 a month for pwoer running 250w of CFL and that's including the cost of a fan, it took 6 hours for my room to get up to 80F from running 250w of CFL and its never whent past 80F for the 1 year I've been growing for so far:twisted:

So confusing CFL or HPS.. CFL or HPS lol.. Right now I think CFL just because of heat...

yea , in the summer is when the heat in my room spiked to 80F at rare times it hit 90F and there was more then enough moving air so if I had HPS I prob would have had cooked plants in the morning or for supper

Now if I add a tobacco plant would this hurt anything? I notice it requires a lot of light as well and would probably do alright under the same conditions. I'm just curious what grown tobacco is like. (No place to plant it outside really, and around here the conditions are usually not anywhere near good enough.) Just an idea though, probably wouldn't do it until i get my first grow done. I'll have to read more in depth about tobacco growing.

EDIT: I probably won't bother... Seems like it might be tough to dry and cure, still I might just plant one outside somewhere next year..

^^^yeah read up on tobacco growing d'ya know what strain? i grow havana outdoors but im sub-tropical brilliant for those homemade foot long blunts on a summers day lol
and the CFL vs HPS is a big one if you can vent out of the closet go the HID put a pyrex breadtube around it to the exhaust if need be or if you dont wanna spend/couldnt be bothered the CFLs will grow nice buds if theres enough and there close happy pondering
