Some grow questions, before starting.

hey everybody, I'm new to this forum nad lovin it, I see a lot of your guy's grows and Im inspired. I'm new to growing as well but want to give this a shot.

Okay details are, I have 2 enclosures that would be 4 feet tall by 2 feet wide by 2 feet long. Lets call that the flowering room. The 2nd one would be 3 feet tall by 2 feet wide by 2 feet long. we'll call that the veg room.

I would have Fletches 6 plant aero setup set up in the flowering room
and a 16 watt 225 LED lightboard with mylar on the sides.

In the veg room I would have the same setup but with 8 smaller places for clones

Essentially I want to do a small Sea of green grow, where I'd grow 2 mother plants in the veg room in an 8 plant unit and keep them there to make more clones.

Or can I grow 6 feminised seeds, then cut 6 clones, and harvest the plants from the seeds and grow the clones, and cut more clones off of that and so on

2 computer fans, one sucks in, other one sucks air out through a carbon filter



how much could I potentially yield with big bud seeds (dry and wet weight)?
assuming I do nutes right, keep ph in check, and correct lighting cycles
Also a purchase of an HPS light wouldnt be out of the question


I wanted to do big bud but as a first timer I've heard good things about top 44?
 
you may get some guesses but i think most folks won't hazard a guess since there are too many variables. Experience is the single biggest factor in determining yield, all else being equal.
but as 420_Growper says - you can check the seed banks to see what yield for big bud should be and that should at least get you in the ballpark provided you realize that first grows do not usually yield the maximum.
 
well, yeah I've done my fair share of research, Assuming everything i do is correct, I think It should be about 1.5-2 oz's a plant, I've read of a possible 3 oz plant but me being very hopeful, I'd expect an 1.5-2 Oz's lol

nutrients wise I got a friend whos an expert, so assuming all nutrients would be correct
on top of help from other friends that grow

from 6 plants, think I could manage like...6 Ounces dry?


also could I keep like 2 plants in VEG for a LONG time nad keep taking clones and eventually harvesting that plant?

3 oz's a plant isn't unrealistic - i ended up with 3oz per plant and screwed up my grow royally! but they were also over 3 feet high and very bushy. but you are limiting your height to 3 feet of vertical growth total (or do you have to subtract lights and pots from the 3 feet making even less room for you plants - something to consider) anyway - the amount you yield also depends on how big you let your plants get but 1 oz per plant is low-balling and I think you'd really have to screw up to not get at least an oz/plant.

Yeah, I realized that those were extreme cases with 3 Oz's a plant

Figure that for the aero system it'll take up 1 foot, I'd have 3 feet available for the plant to grow and it'd be about 6 inches away from a LED light at all times thats equal to 400 watt hps without the heat.

I can have the box be 4.5 feet easily


And as for flowering I read that they double - triple heights in flowering

would that be a safe goal for me to start the plant in flowering once its about a foot high?

and for the weights, those are wet weights correct?




This is temporary, I've found out I might be switching rooms with my friend, where I'd have a Whole giant walk in closet as the grow op.

Some very bad news for you...

i don't think LEDs equal HPS in any way when it comes to flowering.
I haven't seen any successful LED grows that didn't use HPS for flowering.

I usually don't rip on other folks but these guys pushing LEDs really need to get a grip cause folks like yourself are falling for their hype. Yes, they will save you money (after a long time) on your electric bill but they are (currently) only good for vegetative and our only useful as a supplement to HPS for flowering.

anyway...

yes, plants double and sativas or sativa-heavy hybrids can even more than triple in size (mine did) after switching to 12/12.

the time to switch to 12/12 is determined by height restrictions, plant height is not as important as the number of nodes a plant has and the thickness/denseness of its structure. another words, a very thick bushy eight inch plant could easily start flowering but a 3 feet high spindly stretched plant would not be able to support buds without tying.

the weights are dry - wet would be a useless measurement unless you are figuring how much yield you lose between wet and dry.
 
the weights being dry have made me very happy...and the whole having to buy an hps thing, I'l deal with, and its ok, cause i'm very high right now haha

Around spring break I should have a grow journal goin of an 8 plant setup with big bud seeds.
 
I'd figure until they;re about 30cm for Big Bud

the seed banks say it tops at 45-55 cm But I'd figure I can get it to flower fully at around 60-65cm or so.

would that be plausible to get some decent bud? like is 2Oz an easy possibility at that height?

to be honest, i would put yield out of my mind and focus on getting some growing experience.

just tryin to frame out whats possible ya know? lol

oh well. Just before spring break, I'm gonna grow my box, get big bud seeds and I'l be postin a journal up.
