I've heard if you don't get a one with a ceramic heating you can get cancer

well i have made one myself, you need one that you can get to the ceramic element, and you use that to light your bowls. So without taking it apart it's hard to tell..Good luck JR

I wouldn't say cancer, just make sure that you haven't used the Solder iron yet. If there's already Solder stuck to the tip, yes, you will be smoking copious amounts of carcinogens. If it's a clean tip and has no flux or solder on it you're fine.
