ok i am going to lowes today i need to know what the best soils r to start with and anything else i should pick up regarding food for my plants so i wont have to make anymore trips and can i use my mh light for the first stages of my plant or should floresents be used i have a 400 watt mh and 400 wat hps

A lot of people say that Scott's soil is better than Miracle Grow but I mix my own so I'm not sure. Pick up some vermiculite & perlite, I use them both because the perlite can start floating to the surface if you use to much of it. Fox Farm is suppose to be a good soil & fert. but you probably can't find it at Lowes. If your are is like mine you'll have to drive a couple of hours just to find the stuff. You can find out on their website.

here's my soil mix (part of it comes from potpimp)
2 cubic ft. Miracle Grow Organic
2 cubic ft. Fox Farm(not in my area so I found some local organic)
1 cup blood meal
1 cup bone meal
1/2 cup dolomitic lime (raises & stabilizes pH)
1 teaspoon of miraite of potash(switching this to greensand next time)
2 1/2 cups aluminum sulphate (lowers pH)
Wet thoroughly and let it set for a day or 2
If you use this mix DON'T PUT ALL THE ALUMINUM SULPHATE IN AT ONCE Start with one cup let it set for a day and check the pH if it needs to go lower add more if it needs to go up, add some more lime.

yes you can use the mH for your seedlings just keep it a couple of feet away until they are ready for more light.

do i just use regular soil and nothing else for the first stages of growth i need to know everything i need for my plants throughout the cycle i dont like watching the videos they leave alot out i need help from someone who knows what there doing

yes just soil until they are a 2 or 3 weeks old or so. Well I don't use nutes until I have transplanted them out of the starter pots(16 oz cups cut in half) and they have settled in for a least week. I do use superthrive when I put the germinated seed into the dirt & everytime I transplant, mix 1/4 tps superthrive to 1 gal. of water.

i used m/g soil and had to flush it after two weeks so i could feed my plant but its been awsome after that. see for your self this is yesterdays pic's 22 days into flowering today makes 23 ill post pic's later good luck and merry xmas

i think most people don't like it because of the water retention well and the time release but thats what I started with myself. The soil mix I use now rocks.
