So I bought some blood meal and mixed it into my soil and then two plants died and I pulled them out and dumped the soil and in the bottom it was all gooey and shit and it smells like amonia? WTF? Is that a problem?
it's kindof like a thermocline in the lake. a layer of super saturated soil is created when the draw of the soil equalizes with gravity and creates a bog layer at a certain level within the pot.
I knew what happened the minute I read the word "ammonia". I love using blood meal but if you use too much it gives off that smell. Not anything to worry about unless it burns your plants. You just OD'd your plants on Nitrogen.
Flushing will help. Did you burn your plants? If you didn't and it's just the smell, don't worry about it. The plant will be rocking that extra nitrogen.
Always go half strength at the most or bend over and wait...wtf why don't these companies read a couple forums then adjust the amount they tell you to use..it seems when people follow the directions they get burned alot...pun intended.
