Soil question

Okay so I have been reading a lot here recently just trying this thing out but I have a question. I bought 2 big bags of Harvest Super powered organic potting mix. There seems to be some chunky pieces of bark and by that I mean maybe 1 - 1/2 inch shards. Don't think that's going to do so well but I already have my seeds started in cups of it. Might have to move them to their bigger containers soon. I started to screen the soil then figured I should ask first. Do you think it's better to screen and bury with the super fine screened soil then layer top with chunkie left overs. Don't want to lose any nutrients I also have bat guano and worm castings that I have to add and mix before but just wanted to know. I threw away the big chunky pieces and kept the smaller stuff like fish gravel size and I have the super fine soil seperated. I took pics but the upload optiom is down right now. Tia

I would leave them. The point of organic soil is that it has things that will continue to break down and turn into the nutrients your plant needs. Only remove the pieces that are large or break them into smaller pieces.
I have not used a "powdered" soil. Yes I would cover the tops with something to mulch. Will keep your soil moister longer, which is what you want if you're growing in organic soil. The bacteria in the soil is what is going to feed your plant.
Did you amend the soil with anything? Add anything for drainage?

I'm not sure, but it seems like I remember reading somewhere that bark is acidic , just a thought. But it would still work for mulch

The only thing I added to the soil well have to add is perlite , bat guano and worm castings. Should I add anything else. I just added more lighting as they were kind of leggy

LOL. I misread that to say powdered, lol.
Bare is right that too much bark can be too acidic. I would guess the soil has some lime in it? If not, might be a good thing to add.
When I look up that soil, it says it has organic ferts in it? Does it say that on the bag? If so, You may be okay for this run. Not sure what type of pots you run, but you'll want to keep your soil more on the moist side to keep your bacteria happy.
How far along are your girls?

Edit: You may want to mix mosquito dunks into the soil as well. Can solve problems before they happen.
