I'm using distilled water so my water ph is 6. After watering I take a sample from the water dripping out of the pots and the ph is like 4. I add ph up to the water and try again, water coming through soil is still 4-4.5? Any have any advice?

dolomite lime helps to stabalise ph.

have you checked the ph of your water? or are you assuming that it is 6? is it 6 before or after you add nutes?

I'm using mg soil. Probably a mistake. I bumped up my water ph to about 8 and emptied about a gallon into one plant, checked the ph again and it was about 4.5-5. When you say flush you mean running lots of water through the soil?

yes usually 3x the pot size.

but with MG soil this is pointless as you will just release more nutes.

i would recommend getting yourself a soil ph meter or probe to check your soil ph.

how big are the pots your using? could you transplant into better soil?

personally i would get them out of those pots and into some 11 or 15 Litres now.

get some good sterile soil and some dolemite lime to help with the ph and transplant them.

fill your new pots with soil and leave a hole the size of your 2.76's i do this by filling the new pot and placing an empty 2.76L pot inside so that the rims of the pot are level with each other. them put the palm of your hand flat to the soil with the stem in between your fingers and hold it up at an angle and begin tapping the pot and squeezing it to release the sides of the soil from the pot. after a little time the plant and soil will come free . take it and place it into your pre made hole in your new pot and water it in.
