I know the cheap ass ph meters you can buy at home depot don't work. I found this digital 4in1 meter. PH, moisture,light, and temp. Someone take a look....I just can't fork out the dough for a Hanna right now.

I tend to avoid things without brand names. Just my two cents.

got any better ideas? something that works and doesn't cost as much as a hanna?

That thing only has a pH resolution of .5, for that kind of money you should get at least .1! I use a Milwaukee pH600. I got it for about the same price (a couple of bucks less, actually!), but it only reads pH.
