hi i have some plants started in 16 oz solo cups, use pro mix/pearlite/worm castings and a little spagnum moss, after a few days there appears this bright green algae on the surface of the soin and you can see it on the pearlite too, and even deeper down in the soil cuz the cups are clear
i dont know how to test the ph of the soil, and i have a water test kit with the shaded sort of chart but its hard to tell the exact ph of the water with this, i think its around 5.5 or 6
seems to me this algae indicates a alkilin or base combination of the soil and water
BTW i have ordered a digital ph meter, for water,but still have no idea how test the soil
these plants, ie N. lights, sk#1, thai X sk,.. ice, big bud, kc brains cali spec., and maybe one bubble gum are currently growing under 24 hrs light in a photo tron,... the closet is well vented and very little nutes, a couple of eye droppers of MG in a 5 gal bucket when i ph it,...
any thoughts? thanks
