what is a good mix of things to use for soil? i am going to be digging holes and filling them with soil outdoors, and i want to know a good mix.

for example:

60% potting soil
10% peat moss
etc...etc...etc...

im trying to do it as cheap as possible because im going to need a lot.

50% Pro-mix
25% perlite
25% wormcastings

or

Mix in the portions of 50% promix, 35% perlite and 15% vermiculite.

I was looking at the pro-mix and it has vermiculite, and perlite already in it. Do you still mix 15% Vermic. and 35% Perlite to the 50% Pro-mix?

Those were two different mixes used by two different people I know. I don't use either of those. I just stick to the bag period.

Does anyone know if i should mix dolimite lime and perlite to Fox Farm Ocean
Forest or if I would be better off just leaving it alone they way it is? I also would like to mix bone meal and peat moss to mix through. I need to know if this is a good ideal or if it is bad for the plants

I am not sure where you live or how the soil is but what I do is just use the natural soil. Dig it up loosen it good pull out roots and crap so no weeds pop up and mix in some poop(10-10-10 $6 a bag at Walmart) and lime then fill the hole back in. Worked great for my cucumbers and tomatoes last year, they produced for almost 6 months,up until the frost, with just water. In my raised bed I just mix poop, lime and topsoil and the roots find all the food they need in the earth.

If you wana stay cheap I'd go with:

40% Native Soil
40% Happy Frog Soil Conditioner (Like around 15-25 bucks for bale of 3 cu.ft.) Which would be almost enough for 4, 2'x2' holes.
20% Perlite

The Happy Frog Soil Conditioner has all types of shit like composted forest humus, earthworm castings, bat guano, oyster shell and dolomite lime (for pH adjustment), humic acid (derived from Leonardite), granite dust, and mycorrhizae (beneficial microbes).
