What is a good soil medium or how do you put together one? Im planning to use Advance Nutrients (100%Organic) Iguana Juice Grow/Bloom. I like my medicine 100% Organic, so no synethtics. This is going to bee my first Organic grow, so any suggestions would help alot. Thanks :leaf::leaf:

Sup mayne,.

Ur basically doing hydro with (read the bottles closely) 100% orgznic derived nutes, so not really organic. Organic is feeding the soil not ur plants.
Its all cool tho,. Id reccomend any inert medium that can deliver and hold ur soluble nutes around the rootzone, like coco.

Get a bag of coco.

U could make ur own mix of a cocktail of organic ingredients, but ur only giving urself more trouble and less control over ur plants,. Very unnecessary if ur using soluble nutes as all ur plants needs to get u bud are in the bottle.

I agree, coco is fine if you have a whole line of nutes, but that doesn't meant you cant mix up a batch of soil to feed your plant as well.

So, lets say I get a bag of Coco for a soil medium , now what would i use to feed them Organicliy? I looked up Advance Nutrients and since I want to go Organic, i found that Iguana Juice Grow/Bloom are 100% Organic. Or do i use something else besides Iguana Juice Grow/Bloom. Sorry for asking to much questions, Im a Beginner. :(

What Humus Joe is saying, is that anything your mix out of a bottle is 'organically derived.' So without trying to put words in his mouth, I think he is suggesting finding a good soil less mix and going with that. When you mix organic nutes like blood meal, bone meal, and kelp (or any other combo of nutes that will give your soil NPK) into your soil, you can basically feed with plain water all the way through. Those nutrients in the soil break down and the plant takes it as it needs it. You could also sub every few plain watering with an organically brewed tea. There is a great thread here that I'm not even finished reading that covers Organic teas.

Im trying to have my first grow Organic, so give me advice for a soil medium.

Uh oh, I can feel a storm "rizing" up hahaha..

TADA - I love that! Rize to the rescue with some REALITY in this bee-yatch. "So not really organic" lol at this guy re-defining organic. His name should be 'OMRI Joe'.

I'll start by saying to OP that you should take a "feed the soil not the roots" strategy, aka old school organics, as has been suggested. It will be much easier than jumping into soil-less organics (hydro organics is something else all together but we don't need to wax semantics). If one of these old schoolers won't help you I'll link you up with some folks on icmag, they make these guys seem like simpletons anyways. And they have dialed in plant based organic soil mixes/beneficial teas combos that they openly share.

I would not go with coco, and then try using any of the organic bottle lines... that guy is just guessing. If you want to do coco and bottled, they make nutes designed for that.

Ocean Forest can take you through a short veg, but without amendments you will have to feed for flower. All in all it is a generally accepted quality indoor container media. The boys on ic say it takes a year of re-using and amending it to qualify as a soil.

I do an advanced soil-less (peat/bark/coco) indoor grow using bottled nutes, powder kelp, AACT (teas), other microbe starters (bottle inoculants), molasses, and some enzymes. I call it: vegan organic, but that is just a catch phrase.

Don't let anyone tell you how to grow, follow your own path. Peas

whats up bee. im in too organics too and this is what i use. i made this mix using a combination of a base mix i found in a recipe from another site and some added things. the recipe i found is actually on icmag so this could be one of those mixes matt was talking about im not sure though. but like i said i changed a few things. if you want to view the entire thread with all the different fertilizer options just google LC'S SOILLESS MIX and you should find it. anyways this is what i use and with great success i might add.

(base mix)

peat moss
worm castings
perlite
dolomite lime

i found a soilless mix last year that i tried and had good texture but i didnt like the ratio of nutrients ( lc's soilless mix # 1 ) it called for :

5 parts coco-coir or sphagnum peat moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts worm castings
(1 cup of lime per cubic foot )

to make this base mix you use a 3 quart bowl or saucepan as parts and it equals 1 cubic foot each time you mix the 5 parts, 3 parts and 2 parts. you can add 1 cup of dolomite lime to each cubic foot to make it easy. their were different recipes for fertilizers but the recipe i used recipe # 1 had the wrong ratio of nutrients. i started having deficincies going into flowering using recipe #1 and this was supposed to be a just add water mix all the way to the end. so i decided to make a mix to get me 30 + days into veg which is all i veg for anyways, and then just use a complete bloom nute to finish. so this is what i came up with:

5 parts coco-coir or sphagnum peat moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts worm castings
1 cup powdered lime per cubic foot
4- 41/2 cups epsoma brand PLANT -TONE fertilizer
1- 2 tbsp of epsoma brand KELP MEAL
2 tbsp of rooters mycorrhizae
1- 2 tbsp of azomite ( optional but reccomended )

this is what i use. i mix all the peat, perlite, & castings together using a 3qt saucepan to make it an easy and even cu ft each time, add the powdered stuff. mix very well then water with mollasses water 2 tbsp per gallon using filtered, distilled or water that clorine has been dissolved. cover and let it set for a few weeks with the lid on cracking the lid and stiring now and then and your good. this mix works very well and it will get you 30 days + into veg no problem just water. using this i really dont use any N rich fertilizer at all. just get a good bloom fertilizer and maybe a tea like product like big bloom in case any deficinces but that would cover you. you can supplement the worm castings with mushroom compost, regular compost , manure will even work but the worm castings would be best. the thing i like most about this mix is that it's well balanced, cheap to make, and available at most home depot or loews stores with the exception of the fungus and azomite which you can order anywhere on the internet.

you can also use this as a seedling / cutting mix:

5 parts coco-coir or sphagnum peat moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts worm castings
(1 cup of lime per cubic foot )
2 tbsp of rooters mycorrhizae

this is just the base without the ferts. this is great for seedlings and cuttings. i hope this helps you out or helps someone that reads this.

I grew what I called soft organics for 5 years and used a mix of 50% ProMix or Sunshine and 50%Coco, for food I used the Pure Blend Pro and Liquid Carma and when needed Cal-mag. Works great keep your eye on pH. I got lazy so now I have gone native ORGANIC and have the best results ever and all I do is water, some times when I feel I need to do something to the plants, I just sit down and smoke a fatty and let it pass. I do make AACT tea once a month for everyone as a treat. I make my own soil.
