Soil-Less Mix Watering Questions.....

hello people!

I'm working in my first crop! and i just started flowering 2 days ago!

anyway......

my 4 plants were potted in FFOF soil and have been growing pretty good, despite lots of people saying that soil burns seedlings. I also bought a rather large bale of Sunshine Mix, a soilless mix and thought it'd be better because i can exactly monitor my babies nutrient intake...

i recently transplanted to 2 gallon containers, one with the soil-less mix and left the other 3 with FFOF soil.

I have been watering about every 3 days since the plants were small and the results have been pretty good, the problem is that now that I've been looking at the differences in the watering for the FFOF soil and the Soil-less mix and they are quite different!!!!!

i feed my plants about 1.5 liters of water/nute solution, the plants with the FFOF soil drain right away and there's a good amount of runoff water that drains from the holes. but when i water the plant in the Sunshine mix with the same amount of water, no water drains and even after a couple of minutes after the soil sticking out of the drainage holes seems to be bone dry!!!!

1) should i add something to the mix to increase drainage?

2) should i just use more water?????

i don't want to run into over watering problems, or even worse cause root rot!!!!!!!......

obviously the sunshine mix retains a LOT more water but it just seems to be too much (or am i just paranoid?)??? has anyone had luck using Sunshine soilless mix before???

3) would you recommend any other growing medium?

thank you very much in advance!!!! peace.

If the soil is holding to much water try to bounce some out. Pick up the pot and kinda let it fall with gravity then give it a good stop. 1.5 liters of water in a 2 gal pot should have drainage.

some of the ones potted in FFOF look a little better id say, but thats an unfair comparison given that ALL plants started in FFOF, i just happened to run out of it and repotted that plant in the sunshine mix as an experiment.. i asked the hydro guy and he said just water until water dripped from the bottom, but that just means that i have to use more water/nutes per watering plus i have to feed with every watering since the mix has no nutes in it!!!....

im confused as to what is best/most cost efficient......

in sunshine mix u do not have to see run off to determine your plant is fed. big mistake. u feel the pot it in to determine that.
the key to sunshine mix #4 is more waterings per week. 4 hopefully. pumping nutes the whole time. nutes, nutes, nutes.
huge yields and great medicine will come from this practice. no bull shit get some good nutes if u dont already have.

i was real worried because when i poured 1.5 liters of note solution inot the 2 gallon pot, only the top half of the pot was saturated with water and when i poked my finger inside the bottom drain holes the soil was real dry!!! so i was concerned the bottom roots could dry up and die or something....

isn't the water supposed to drain down evenly all the way down?

so if i water 4 times a week how much should i water? how much do you water on average?

thank very much for your help!

well your most likely still in veg. so watered as needed. in flower its a must i get at least 3 waterings a week. with some strains im getting 4 times a week.
im in 3 gallon pots giving them about a half gallon each.
