Soil and lime questions w/pics

I have 2 different kinds of soil, Kgro premium from kmart and scotts from home depot, you can see the n-p-k of both in the pics. which kind would be better to use? also how much lime do i mix in? it is the pellet garden lime i couldnt find the powder. i am using 2 gallon buckets.

I would use the scotts, and You should search around for the finely granulated Dolomite Lime. I would use 1 cup per gallon of soil. As you probably know, the Dolomite Lime will keep your ph in check. Hope I earned some + rep. Good luck

Def. +rep, ya ive looked everywhere for the fine lime but couldnt find it so i figured pellet was better than nothing. appreciate the help bro, could i grind the pellet up into powder?

I wouldn't use the pellet, and not sure about grinding it.

Most home depots carry this brand of garden lime

I have hydrated lime too, but as i was told by many people not to use it cuz the ph is 14 and it changes the ph too fast and too much in little time and is not good for it.

I also have agricultural limestone but i'm not sure of the ph or if it'd work

"many people" are wrong

I use hydrate lime 1 level tbs to each gallon of soil. It won't raise the PH to anything more than 7.

See my grow for results in PH 7 soil.

closer to a Tablespoon is sufficient and IMHO you'll be close to Lockout using a cup. good luck

See my avatar? Thats grown with 1 cup of finely granulated dolomite Lime per gallon of soil. Its hard to OD on the lime. Just mix it up like crazy... and that ph will be dead on everytime. Been doing it for years... :hump:

i've seen lock out (not OD) from half that. I'm glad it works for you

IMO you simpley don't NEED that much and you can always mix it into the top soil and water if the Ph goes off...But removing it from the mix after planting is a BITCH ha ha ha .

having said that Dolomitic lime is the BOMB and i've seen it save more than a few grows that looked beyond help. if the pH is fucked, just work a bit into the top inch or two of soil and water. :weed:
