SOG with 150w HPS

I've been researching the SOG method for my next grow, but I'm a having trouble finding info on low wattage SOG. From what I've found so far, a high density SOG (9+ p/sqft) with no veg will have a better yield with a low wattage HPS, while a normal SOG (1-4 p/sqft) will grow tall skinny plants that don't produce much. Is this true?

with lower wattages you will want to pack them in tighter to get the most out of the lightdue to the fact that it might not be strong enough to penetrate to bottom growth...but with packing them tighter comes a higher risk of mold and bud rot because its harder to get circulation flowing through the canopy...its possible...i have 12 plants going now under 2 150w hps inline cooltibe in a 3x1.5 cab....all the top growth is nice and thick and dense while the bottom growth is light and airy...usually i would cut it off to just have tops but i got lazy this time and figured i could use the airy buds to make some good hash or oil with.....

oh...and i veg for a week just to let the clones get nice and rooted..coco coir and canna nutes in flood table...
