SOG trimming

Hey dudes, I was just wondering how much/when you trim your plants when doing a sog? I only want to have 1 main cola for each plant, so would I trim all the side branches, or is there a method? I have 8 plants in a 2 x 4 ft area under a 600 watter. I have already trimmed some of the branches, but wasn't sure if I should cut the rest, or leave it as it is? Any help would be appreciated.
 
the bottem 1/3 of the plant on ur 1st week then clean it up agn on ur 3rd week of 12/12... or jus do it all round ur 3rd week instead of doin it twice
 
If you cut off more than a third of the plant would that hurt it? I think I might have overtrimmed my plants. My plants look a lot more bare then they did, but are still growing all right.

nah.. ull be fine aslong as it was off the bottem and not the top... aim for the bottem 3rd next time and if u feel it needs a bit more then do so... good luck
 
they look nice and healthy!!!! ya looks lik u took a lil too much off but dont sweat it.. ur good to go!!!
 
Thanks for the help, I think the plants will be alright. This is my 2nd grow. I grew some monsters(4-8 footers) first run, now I'm aiming for smaller plants. This is a learning experience for me, just trying to do it right.

I was just thinking that a 600 can only penatrate so far. I had some nice colas from my first grow, but the side branches were just popcorn. I was growing in my walk in closet (6 x 5 x 8), now I have my plants in a 2 x 4 x 5 tent. I need the plants to stay relatively short. And I eventually want to get some flood tables going for a perp. I would like to harvest 1 table a month, using the system I have now for mothers. But I want to try to get the sog concept down before I invest more money into it. Pics of my first grow.

very nice!!! y dont u try suppercropping??? check my journal and ull see pics of what it can do.. it alows those bottem nugs to become tops and optimizes ur lights and space by creating a larger surface area(sea of green) and keeps ur canopy even and low.. in my fist set of pics i have a link called "supper-cropping" by genfranco... excellent thread!!! any QnA is in there is u read threw it... i turned 7 plants and 12 sog clones into a 5x4 sea of green that harvested 19ozs...


hey in ur 3rd pic there, on the left is that a nug at the base of ur leaf or does it jus apear that way?

I've heard of super-cropping, but that's about it. I'll check your journal to see what I can learn. From what you said, sounds like it would be the perfect thing for me. And yeah, that was a nug on the leaf. I was surprised to see it grow there, but not disappointed:lol:. I didn't really tend to those plants as well as I should have, but they just exploded. I started from seed, vegged for about 2 months, then flowered for another 2 months. I didn't realize how much they would stretch. They were about 2-3 feet when put into flower, and ended up being 5-8 feet.
 
thats crazy.. well it looks good.. ya check in my jornal for that "suppercroping" link its on the first page... deff worth the veiw and try.. i swear by it espeacly if plant nubers is an issue.. u can acheive the same effect as a SOG with less work(transplanting, cloning, watering them all twice as often).. good luck

i have pics of SC branches threw out the grow so ull see its progress.. jus check the pics , they r all labeled
 
Damn dude, that's what I like to see. A nice, full, even canopy. I subscribed to your and GenFrancos threads so I can learn some shit. I wish I would have looked into that earlier. Definetely doing that next run.

its deff worth doin as u can see... try to top or fim first then supercrop the branches like a spidar for best resaults.. the more branches u can bend over the beter rite... not sure u can spidar with ur room tho...ur set up looks looks rectangular, not sure if its jus devided like that but ive seen ppl do it so theres a plant on one side and bent over to the next then beside the top of the plant is the next pot with it bent down to the other and so on and so on so the pots r diagnal from eachother with the plant mater goin sideways(all parralel to eachother)..u understand what im trin to say??? make sure to SC atleast 2 weeks b4 u flower so the shoots can grow vertical...

pretty good technique tho eh??? like i said, that thread has it all if u read it.. i know its huge but ull find answers for questions u probly wouldnt have asked.. and dont worry bout the damage u create.. i split mine like bananas... ude call the cops for child abuse if u saw what i do to them... if u have any questions, feel free to PM me or post away on genfrancos thread... we more then happy to spread this technique
 
I'll be reading over your guys threads for awhile. So much info. Can't wait to harvest these so I can try it out.
