SoG Clone & Early Veg Spacing Question

hello all,
I am planning on a SoG attempt. i am thinking of vegging for 2-3 weeks in 5 inch pots using either a drip system or ebb and flow. My question is this: can i place pots side by side (basicly touching) when vegging sucessfully rooted clones for 2-3 weeks? or will i need more space than this??

also. for flowering, i have read that 8" circles (from center of pot to center of pot) is about all that is needed when doing a SoG. In your own experiences, has this proved to be true? i will be trimming the lower branches and trying to achieve 2-4 main kolas per plant.

For SOG vegging is not required. You can put a rooted clone into flower and end up with a 3-4 foot plant. I think eight inches is good. I think Al. B. says a foot. I can't remember. Check out this thread...A batch of clones in rockwool.
