Me and the wife have settled on moving to Presque Isle by next spring. We have been looking at foreclosures all over Maine, and we found a couple nice ones in Presque Isle that we liked. Not sure which one we're gonna pick yet. One is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 story house. It's on a couple acres of land. Has a 2 car garage. I believe the garage has a small attic. Very nice though. The other house is a 5 bedroom 2 bathroom, just outside of town. It's address is PI still though. 2 car garage. Full basement. The prices are about the same. 4 bedroom actually costs more than the 5. Downpayment is around $4000 for either one, and the monthly payments are like $300-something.
I was excited, so I figured I would share with y'all in here, seeing as how some of us might be neighbors. And we're taking a trip up this fall to choose the house and put the downpayment on it, so I might stop over and kick it with some of y'all on the way through Maine. I'll bring my baggie, and you bring yours. Lol.
Oh, and please, for those of you who live, or have lived in PI, do throw down some suggestions as places to go. I like all kinds of stuff. Museums, art galleries, restaurants, stores, dispensaries or head shops, etc. I have done some Googling, but it doesn't always give you reviews, and y'all can from personal experience.

Don't forget taxes and home insurance, which will normally be added to your mortgage amount and could be up to 25% more..... good luck with it. And make sure you have some cash available for repairs and such which you always need when you first move in.

Thanks. We found all that out through the realtor we're using. They said that we have to pay closing costs and property tax, and all that jazz. But I'm prepared. I just can't wait to move!

wow Presque Isle is way the hell the up north, cold and no ocean..do you have jobs planned I can't imagine there is much there. I'll stick to southern maine. Hope it works out for ya.

For me, I work online and collect disability. And grow small cash crops. I make decent money. Only usually get paid once a month from either venture. So where in Southern Maine would be a better place to go? We're trying to stay away from cities. We like living the small town life. But something within reach of a city wouldn't be a bad idea. I just want a few acres of my own land. Outskirts of town. Some place quiet. But within reach of all the necessities we would need.

I hear you about The city, i don't mind it because I've grown up in it. no city in Maine is really that big... portland being the biggest, is hardly big. It always has a lot of things to do espicaly in the summer time. I've never been to presqule isle...seeing how its 5+ hours away from here, I imagine its very quiet and peaceful. Probably cheap to live etc... But nothing around it. I hear you about having some land, Buxton,Standish, bridgthon, Falmouth, Cumberland , yarmouth , gray , Gorham, and many more are all nice and have land opportunities, privacy etc... Some being 10 mins from the city, some being an hour.... But of course house cost will go up the more southern in the state you go..... Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh ya...upstate New York is beautiful by the way. I want to plan a trip there again sometime in the future

Shit, just let me know. I got my own 2 bedroom apartment. And harvest time is October. There's not really any more hotels up here in my town. But you can crash my couch. Lol. I live about an hour and a half north of Watertown.

Museums? Art galleries? dispensaries?....Presque Isle is just a small town basically and a long, long way from anywhere....

Welcome To Maine !! I have lived all 54 years years here in this state, and PI would not be on the top 10 places to live for me. I would tend to agree to try Southern Maine. Anything (IMO) north of Bangor is Canada :-) Best of Luck :-)

So, then where would y'all suggest I move to in Southern Maine? I looked into Jackson and Burnham. The only criteria I have is close to a dispensary, close to a city, I can buy a house with some land. That's it.

there are no dispensaries here that dispense anything of value....if they do have product it is vastly overpriced....

Yeah, I run into at least 1 patient a week that has been to a dispensary and is now looking for a caregiver....
