So I bought a Volcano and need tips

So my second buy with my recently inherited money has been a volcano classic solid valve for like $550. I'm pretty use to volcanoes and how they work, but what are the best settings to put it at I'm thinking of 5.5, 7, then 8 is that good, too high or not enough, and what am I supposed to do with this thick metal filter/sponge looking thing!?!?! But so far I love it, and I am going to name it Linda after my mother, but if I buy a new bong at some point I'll probably switch Linda to the bong and the volcano will be the volcano cause I feel like it is more appropriate to name glass over machine, idk just my opinion

I have the digital with the actual temp settings, so I don't know about the classic's settings. The metal sponge deal is for hash oil and other liquids that you want to vaporize that would just run through the regular screen. I love mine and use it daily. It's really helped my wife and I lose the chronic coughs we used have from smoking. I still smoke bowls sometimes, but it's almost always the Volcano now.

Ygrow- what temps do you choose digitally? because, I can find in the owners manuel what each setting = in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Jhopkins, there is a thread about the digital I typed a few paragraphs in that you should check out.. its in the medicating section I think.

Anyway, my friend has the solid. Start at 5.5 and do a bag every .5

If its a large bowl do a few bags in the 5.5-6 area.

I can probably answer all the questions you have, I use the classic at my friends a lot. PM me if you need any help with it. Id tell you more but I'm not at home and I'm about to drive somewhere

Don't worry about getting exact temperatures, the second link is just so you have an idea of where those knobs put the vapor temp at.

Save your vaped buds. Me and my buddy (one with the classic) save up about 60g of vaped bud total and make brownies. I got about 20g right now he has like 30g. Last time we made butter so strong I had visual hallucinations for a few hours.

Keep your screens clean too. It really does help the volcano work better to get you higher

Yo I have the exact same thing you do. I've owned it for over 3 years too, and I can promise you the thing is fucking bulletproof. If my volcano was a bong it would've probably broken 15 times by now.
But, what I do is start vaporizing the weed on 7-7.5, and then after a couple of bags I'll turn it up to 8.5 until it's cashed.
That thing can't produce smoke....
