So how do commercial growers do it?

I'm just curious. In the FAQ it says that commercial growers just hang up the weed and then when its dry enough they sell it without curing at all. If that is true, then how does it smell like good weed when you buy it? Wouldn't it smell like hay? I have heard most of the time even good strains smell like hay until you cure them. Especially when they can't care after every plant. My greenhouse white widow did, but now its smelling yummy :blsmoke: I'm just curious what their secret is, or is it just the amount of time before the taking the plants down and the sale that brings back the smell?

How do they manicure all that bud either? I guess call some friends.. Man, I'm content with just doing a couple of plants :joint:

pretty much drying in a dark room is fine.

you'd either get your hombois around or there is a product that attaches to your vaccume cleaner that can manicure very fast.

From cut to bagged, 5 days with the help of a dehumidifier, and some sore fingers. Smells great, tastes great.

Excellent question. I often wonder how large grow-operations function.

Large commercial growers from what I have seen when I was around them in mexico would cut the plants load them onto trucks then haul it to a trim are. There they take the biggest fan leaves and useless stuff away then that goes to a ware house that is dark with many huge fans and racks similar to the ones at like homedepot 4 tiers high. They hang the plants upside down in there for about a 5 days then a manicure crew comes in and does final trim and removes the buds from the stalks and then they go outside on big screens in the sun for 2 days and are watched so they dont over dry. Then after that its either gets bailed in 100 lb bails or in 200lb burlap sacks then distributed where it then depending how it will be transported and to where its is pressure formed with a pnuematic press. It makes squares or cylinders that are the diameter of a tp roll so it can fit easily into most gas tanks. The square bricks get hidden in differnet ways if its going to the US...all this is hypthetical as how would I even know

They do it all the time. Some of the smoke turns out decent and Some of the smoke

turns out too wet, too tasteless or too fresh mowed grass tasting. Theres nothing like

a proper cure in my opinion it isnt until you grow your own and cure it properly that you

know what real weed tastes like or smokes like. you'll notice when you buy good

commercial weed often times it cures in your bag if you have it around for long

enough.... they sell it too wet then it dries and cures in your bag. alot of people dont

realize this because they dont keep the pot around long enough to see the process

take place.

Yeah, I have heard of that. I think I am going to try to make my own and see how it works. I have been looking for one for a while but haven't found one.

That's awesome, mine was put up on a string and definitely still smelled a little like hay after 5 days. I was humidifing and not dehumidifing though..hehe my room is like 30% if I dont..

is that vacuum attatchmen made specially for manicuring weed? could that would be pretty bangin lol
My thoughts exactly and I guess there is one. Way too expensive though... I'll make my own, if it works I'll post it in the DIY section.

This is all really interesting. Thanks for the insight Fletch. Never knew how they did it.

Way too expensive. It's just a freaking blade on the end of the sweeper right??

Yeah, that is probably true. Whenever I have bought in the past it always smells really good though. That's why I was confused when the FAQ said they just hang it up on a ring for five days. Thanks for the insight guys:joint:

automatic trimmers take away from the potency of the bud, is why alot of people dont use em... although if ya dont care about potency lost then its like 200% faster

It really looks like you can make your own by sticking a Toilet paper tube on the end of your vacuum. I could be totally wrong and i wouldnt want to end up vacuuming up my weed cuz i have a central vacuum and i think id probably crawl into a corner and cry if i vacuumed months of work haha. Ill just do it by hand with lots of love! haha

Yeah, I know what you are saying. I have just always wondered how that method worked with the blade on the end of the vacuum, because when I first started growing I watched a video with a guy that had one. I haven't seen/read anyone who uses it since then nor have I been about to see where its for sale. Apparently you can buy the attachment for $300, but I think they just said it was 'specifically designed to trim buds' and then they mark the price up like 400%... We will see, I may try to make my own.

I think most of the cure is done in shipment..
the bundles are pretty tightly bound...
in your bag at home it mainly drys out...
personally i like my bud a little on the sticky damp side...
but i really dont know anything about 12 lb bails.. i am just making this stuff up

Commercial doesnt really have a cure as per say. They do leave it a little moist as it gives them more weight and more money. If you have a chance to get a 100 lb or 500 lb bail some time(probably not) if you dont divide it up and keep it near a humidty controlled room or dump it fast it will mold and mildew a fine white dust on it from the extra left in moisture.Figure in bulk you loose 15% of your bought weight by time its over
