Smelliest Strains?

So the title says most of it. Its mostly to get a feel for what strains to avoid as I used to find smell the worst part of hiding the grow :)

I know AK's, Skunk, and Cheese are known to be bad, any others to consider avoiding if you're not venting outside?

Thanks

Almost all strains smell, and growing isn't even close to harvesting. Invest in a carbon filter and concerns of aroma go away.

I did use a carbon filter but still the smell was bad in flower. Soon as you walked in from outside it hit you even tho the grow was in the basement. I was using a tent so its possible I didn't have the inline fan on high enough so some smell was leaking out of the wholes instead of being sucked through the filter...I just worried that too much suction would be bad for the plants

I'm in a tent with no problems...hmmm

What cfm was you exhaust fan? What was the carbon filter rated for? You may have not had the fan high enough or had a carbon filter with a lower cfm rating than your fan.

Also just a thought, was everything tighened down? No seam leaks? Another thought came to mind, how much duct work was between the fan and the filter as distance impedes the efficiency

I bought the fan years ago so I don't remember the cfm rating, I want to say something in the high 300's as its a generic 6"...The carbon filter came with the inline fan, it was bundle i got on ebay so I assume they were compatible. I remember the filter was a generic kind, nothing brand like Can, so I don't believe they had much specs on the filter. I had a fan speed controller and usually kept it at about 3/4's speed. There was not much ducting used, probably about 6-8 feet. The walls of the tent were always well curved in showing the suction, I think thats what was worrying me as I didn't want to suck out all of the carbon dioxide before plants had a chance to take it in. I think you're right about the tent holes not being completely sealed if I remember.

Has anyone ever doubled up on filters? I thought about keeping one big filter in the tent as normal, and outside the tent on the exhaust side of the inline fan, place a homemade carbon filter to extra filter the air. Does that sound pointless or do you suppose it could actually do some good?

Is the filter as old as the fan? If so, buy a new one. Mine is 9 months old right now and starting to fail. Honestly I've never had one last more then 9 months or so. Negative pressure is good, don't worry about the flaps, it's evacuating the air faster than it can be replaced. Also don't worry about co2 the air is quickly being exchanged
