Smell-B-Gone, Air Filter HELP!

Hey guys! You really helped me out on my last question but now I have another.

I'm building a grow-box for a closet grow and keeping smell down is essential since I'm living with some people who would rather not smell skunk all day. My issue is I need to create a ventilation system that is cheap (preferably in the $40 range) and will keep that stank in my box. My box is 2'x2'x4' made for growing a single plant. Lemme know if there are any solutions that you experienced growers know about. Thanks in advance!

the fan alone to run any affective filter is gonna cost you more than 40 probably. the filter could be one of those diy jobs the dude up there posted BUT you run the risk of that thing coming apart in your grow, carbon on the buds is never good. of course you'll have to buy a new filter every year or so depending on a lot of things , the fan will be a one time thing (until it stops working which should be several filters worth of time)
 
Awesome info guys, thanks a ton. Well this smell thing is really gonna be an issue, so I guess I'll have to throw down for a quality filter sooner or later... I like the looks of that fan-filter combo, might have to save up for that.
 
another thing you might look into is ona mist and a dispenser, this is good stuff . 11 bux a can and the dispenser can be set to give a little mist every 1 to 7 minutes or so, can' remember the settings. this would be good for outside the grow area to ensure no odor of weed. ona mist is some nice smelling stuff too. I bought some because we had someone coming over to appraise the house. I bought just the can of mist and sprayed that by hand when dude came over, it's prompted me to order a dispenser since they're really cheap and a can of mist will last quite a while depending on how you often you have it set to mist.

There are things you can do for the noise, personally I have no worries about the noise and run several fans without duct mufflers and the likes.They do make a noise but you could probably even put that one on a speed controller, if not a speed controller I'm sure you can find some threads about silencing the fan some, one way is to hang it with bungie cord or maybe isolate it in an insulated enclosure of some kind, a 4 inch should be real noisy .I see they sell a 4 inch duct muffler too though, another thing I have no use for.
 
Awesome man, thanks for all the info. I'll look into that ona mist for sure. As for the noise, I'll most likely just get the filter and see how it sounds, and then add insulation as necessary. Again, thanks for the info, props.
 
Odor absorbing gel,i suggest fresh linen scent or citrus magic pure linen.That's what i use and my house always smell good.Try some glade plugins too
Or go to ebay and buy something out of your budget
