I've read about them, they're apparently very good for the roots, keeping the roots off the pot walls and forcing them to utilize the soil better. Couple this with soil such as MiracleGrow's "over & under-water protection" and you won't have any problems. I just switched to that stuff, put them in 1-gallon "tall" planters, plants seem to like it after I dropped the pH of the water a little with lemon juice. And you shouldn't use any nutes for about a month after transplanting. In a month I'll be transplanting again into 10-gallon pots.. wish I knew where to find those smart pots. I'm a stickler for buying local, support the local economy!
