small 150hps

It's my first grow and summer in the south sucks!, I have one plant under 150 hps the temps have been perfect till now...super hot outside. Right now my light is about 4 to 5 inches away....I'm getting temps of 88 sometimes....could I raise it a bit more?I still haven't seen any heat stress or light burn.

it is hard to keep things cool....i turned my ac on today

put a little fan on an angle blowing up at the light should be good if not raise it for sure but start with fans and see how it is

Inside I have a small fan drift up, and another small fan next to the light , pushing air out....I got a exhaust. But I use it mostly at night.....

I invested in a air cooled hood, made all the difference in the world

I think my problem is mostly the ballast connected to the light.

ya those ballast/fixture combos arnt idea for hard to cool areas..gets hella hot..i got talked outta one at my local hydro store..if u cud seperate it tht wud reduce heat alot..but id try sucking the air out before u do tht or raise ur light u need to keep tht 150 within 12in ar least

Thanx, maybe I should raise it just a bit, it'll still absorb the same amount of lumens right?

No seperation possible from that ballast, but ill raise it. I did have it like 5 or 6 inches away...

ya u can bring it too 12in and still get good light.

youll prob loose a few lumens but the heat stress is worse for the plant..if u can get around 78-80F thts managable but 88F is too high

i hear u summer gave me a warning one day with a 90F now 2 weeks later its about 50F outside lol crazy ass global warming shit
