SLH Subcool soil Questions.

For the past fews days I've been looking around at grows where people have used Subcools soil. And every single bud once harvested looks incredibly dank! So I wanted to know if you guys could help me out alittle with my grow.
I was planning on doing roughly 3kw grow 45 plants. All the plants are going to be Super Lemon Haze. I wanted to know would I eventually have to add nutrients later on in the grow? Also can I 'cook' the soil by having it in poly pots, just water it and leave it without it being in a container with a lid covering it? How much should I have once transplanting 50% subcool and 50% potting soil okay? because I don't know if its a heavy or light feed (First time growing this strain, 2nd time growing in general)
I was planning on using Biobizz light warrior soil in subcool soil and just regular soil in the top part. Is there anything I should add?
+Rep for any help thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on vegging in regular soil for around 2-3 weeks in 3.5 gallon containers and than transplant it in a 7 gallon container with half filled up with SSS, filling it all up. Probably leave the soil to cook around a month like Subcool said.

You will probably need nutes. Dont take thos the wrong way, but if this is your second grow, and it kinda doesnt sound like you know what youre doing, why would you grow 45 5 gallon plants? They are going to get huge by the way, I hope your setup is prepared...

My advice if you decide to carry on....fuck loaded soils. Go promix and nutes...much more controlable which comes In handy with 45 5 gallon plants...

maybe the seeds arent feminized ... so 45 might endup being 20? Also you probably won't need to give em nutes for the longest time, SLH is a bit longer to harvest maybe near the end... but for most of the grow compost tea/ water should be plenty

I still need to build my room so I can have it virtually any size I like. And I was planning on training the plants anyway, doing a scrog set-up. I've been planning and researching for the past year expecting to use nutes. But than I seen the SSS a few days ago so I've not prepared enough to know exactly how it works, pro's, con's etc.

Also I figured when it comes to pot sizes the bigger the better? I would'nt mind sacrificing the smaller buds on the lower branches to keep an even canopy and focus on the bigger ones?
Thanks for your help +Rep

I've got feminised seeds so as long as I don't hermie them it should be fine. Have you got any links to some recommended compost tea?

Yes, the bigger the pots the better the yield, that is true, but 15 5 gallons is too many plants. 9 is the most I would do for 1000 and even that is going to get dense. I have.been growing slh for 2 years now and I can tell you, she likes her room. If shes bunched up when thrown into bloom she will stretch even more than normal, which is already a lot. If you give them room they will stay a bit more un-stretched keeping more bud sites in your optimal grow zone increasing your yields and quality dramatically.

I used to do super soils and found unless you get it perfectly right you will end up needing nutes. You end up eventually surrounding your roots with nutritionally inert material...gotta give em nutes.

As for training, go for it. Top them too. Also, take a liberal amount of t he suckers off, the bottom 1/3 of the plants branches...

Thanks for the info. I think am going to just use nutes maybe in future grows use SSS. I will probably drop the pot sizes to 5 Gallon, was going to top forgot to mention that. And is she a heavy feeder? How long was your flowering time? I hope you don't mind but I might end up PM'ing you for advice when I do get started because you got 2 years of experience on SLH. I might scale the plant number down but will look in to it first. How many plants would you put under 2 x 600w so total of 1200w using 5-7 gallon pots 3-4 week veg time btw?

Well, since you are growing from seed you will get some large variations. I have one pheno that takes less than 7 weeks, one thats more tha an ten weeks. But for a sativa, yeah, heavy feeders'
Pm me its cool :-)
Honestly, in mine I do four 5 gallon pots per 600 vedged that long as well. So really, I would only do 8 under 2 6oos...

I am going to step in here & while phil has some good knowledge but I would never ever go back to using bottle nutes after smoking a bowl of buds grown in super soil

Apparently phil has never heard of top dressing - adding more super soil to the top of your containers if you start to see fade or deficiencies

It does take some time to figure out what plant needs how much soil but it is fool proof for the most part, just add water when needed
How hard is that?

I would grab a bowl & a note book & watch some of Sub's growing videos, I hope you get something out of it

It is also most cost effective using super soil vs bottles per plant

I would grow 4 plants under a 1000 and learn to train them & use C02 to maximize their growth

Let me know if you have any other ?'s & we will keep you on the right track

I would listen to TC considering (correct me if I'm wrong) he knows Sub personally, and do your self a favor just read up more on all of subs threads or watch his videos. Not to sound like a dick but its obvious you haven't, or just didnt pay much attention to any thing other than the pics. The man takes his time & effort to spread his wisdom all over these pages dont let it go to waste.

I do work with Sub and have been one of his testers for about a year now & my end flowers are completely off the hook since switchin to super soil

I am sampling some qtrain now that tastes like candy to me

If you follow his tips your grow can come out just as good as his with some time & practice

He already gives you the info just follow along

It's as easy as dank, 1, 2 , 3

Smoking some Chernobyl from Super Soil myself at the moment and I have to agree that I would never go back to chemical nutes of any kind. Not only is SS fool proof.. but you can not beat the TASTE of organic.. Top dressing is your friend.. I've also been making a Compost tea from my batch of SS. :)

Wow thanks for the reply guys!
I think its best for me to use bottled nutes this time around because I know I have not done enough research and I don't wanna rush in to it and lose or ruin a whole crop even though I've got over a month to get started. My next grow is without a doubt going to be SSS one. And thanks for the link Arsenal420 I watched his school of dank and a few other videos and they had tons of good information for all sorts of growers. The good thing about Subcool is hes pretty much upfront no BS unlike others.

I've +Repped you all for your help thanks!

Excited to say that im going to be running some super soil my self! I cant think of what could be easier. I know from using nutes for a while (even though i only use one ), that it is time consuming. And the more plants you have, the crazier it is. I also agree, i think you should only run max of 4 under a 1000w'er. Especially with 5 gal pots and scrog. 4 is plenty. And you'll be able to focus more on them and learn.
