    Hello

If dewaxing inline in a cls with a sock filter, is it necessary to still winterize prior to distillation?

Assuming you are talking about short path distillation.
Dewaxing is not necessary as the waxes and lipids do not boil anywhere near THC and cbd

How certain of that are you? Ive read certain oils and waxes can indeed be vaporized at around 200C. Moreover Id imagine having more impurities in the boil with the rest of what you wish to fraction could perhaps play an effect on the color?

    Winterized
    Purges
Decarbed material ran only. Or massive "bumping" can and will occur. It's happened to 2 ppl running their spd kit.

Have you tried distilling with only single solvent dewax?
How quick were they ramping up the temperature? Im told holding the boiling flask at 130 for 5/10 minutes helps with what you said, a sort of in process partial decarboxylation.

Another question i have is how much material should be put into the boiling flask for x ml capacity? Does a minimum amount requirement exist in order to create a pressure differential big enough to have it run propperly and efficiently?

    thanks

Id be certain. Id agree some oils could distil with the THC/CBD but I dont think those would be stopped by dewaxing. Lipids/waxes are bigger and higher boiling point.

Distillation using the right chemical glassware makes it easy to separate the waxes/lipids from THC/CBD. The biggest contaminant in the distillate likely would be other terpenoids.

On the distillation side I would recommed to fill until it reaches half the flask size. Any more and you risk bumping.

Terps fraction off a lot earlier than the bp of thc ot cbd.

I sent ya a PM earlier. I'd head over there. Lots more chemistry minded ppl there than on a grow forum.

Yes the majority of the terpenoids will boil off a lot earlier.

However, your limonene, linalool, geraniol and similar terpenoids will contaminate distillation. It all depends on how good your distillation is. A good fractional distillation should get the product pretty damn pure. I know EugeneOregon does a sublimation step as well.

I agree on the decarb prior to distillation. If you have any appreciable volume it will bump like crazy. Under vacuum that is a recipe for trouble.
